FS2004 Lufthansa Junkers Ju-52/3m D-AQUI

Lufthansa’s classic D-AQUI scheme brings the Junkers Ju-52/3m to life with period-correct lettering and a polished silver finish that suits 1930s route flying and heritage screenshots in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. The repaint captures key airframe details and requires Pierino Primavesi’s Ju-52 base model plus the matching blank textures.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004

This repaint features the timeless Lufthansa markings for a Junkers Ju-52/3m reminiscent of 1930s aviation, capturing the look of one of the few surviving airworthy examples. Created for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, it allows virtual pilots to relive a pivotal era of German commercial flight without leaving their modern simulators. The base aircraft by Pierino Primavesi is required, along with blank textures by Heather Sherman, and this repaint was meticulously developed by Carsten Pedersen.

Historic Background of the Lufthansa Ju-52/3m

The Ju-52/3m, often dubbed “Tante Ju,” was a pioneering short-haul passenger aircraft introduced in the early 1930s by Junkers. Lufthansa, established in Germany, utilized these rugged metal-skinned tri-motor transports extensively, and the famous D-AQUI registration still flies, preserving the spirit of early European aviation. Pilots and enthusiasts appreciate the corrugated duralumin construction and triple BMW 132A-3 radial engines, each rated at around 660 hp, that lend a commanding presence in the skies.

Repaint Details

This livery offers authentic period markings and carefully placed lettering to match historic reference photographs. It emphasizes the distinctive black-on-silver layout used by Lufthansa during that transformative decade. The textures replicate subtle elements such as rivet lines and the trademark “D-AQUI” registration visible on the fuselage, ensuring maximum realism for those capturing screenshots or conducting heritage flights.

Model Requirements and Installation

  • This package only includes the repaint textures. You must have the freeware base model by Pierino Primavesi, either sourced from JU52V0.ZIP or JU52BLNK.ZIP.
  • Move or extract these textures into the Ju52_V60 folder (or an equivalent folder structure) while preserving the directory paths. Double-check that filenames remain intact to avoid any loading issues.
  • Insert the following lines into your aircraft.cfg under the correct [fltsim.X] sequence number:

[fltsim.X]

description="The Junkers Ju52/3m has modern radio equipment, and is powered by 3 x BMW 132A-3 radials, rated at 660 hp each. The internal fuel capacity of 2.440 liters make a range radius of 1000 km possible at cruising speed at 4500 m."

Next, load the simulator, locate this aircraft in your selection menu, and commence your virtual journey. Ensure you verify that the correct texture folder name is entered and the lines match your existing fltsim sections. The combination of three radial engines and plenty of lift from the trademark corrugated wings makes for an iconic flight experience, bringing historical charm to any airfield departure in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
