This freeware add-on replaces the default “Vietnam Airlines” audio prompt with “Vietnam” for more accurate in-sim communications. It is designed by Ryan Gabuyo and requires EditVoicePack X (EVPX40.ZIP). Enthusiasts of Microsoft Flight Simulator X can expect realistic radio chatter reflecting the actual phraseology used by Vietnam Airlines flight crews.

Refined Airline Identification for Enhanced Air Traffic Control

Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier of Vietnam, typically employs “Vietnam” as its callsign in real-world operations. By installing this modification, users will hear the correct callout instead of “Vietnam Airlines,” thereby aligning virtual flights with real-life standards. This improvement adds another layer of realism, especially when launching flights from major hubs like Tan Son Nhat or Noi Bai International.

Using EditVoicePack X for Custom Callsigns

EditVoicePack X provides a method for adjusting ATC phraseology within the simulator environment. Once you import any desired callsign updates, choose the “Update Voicepack” action to finalize the changes. This process ensures that the new “Vietnam” identification is integrated seamlessly into your existing voicepack data.

Installation and Configuration Steps

  • Import the provided data files into EditVoicePack X, then click “Update Voicepack” once all updates are in place.
  • Locate the aircraft.cfg file for the model you wish to modify and set the atc_airline= entry to Vietnam.
  • Alternatively, open the airlines.cfg file in the main FSX directory and add the “Vietnam” entry. Next, pick “Vietnam” from the callsign dropdown menu when selecting your aircraft.

Additional Notes

Since this package focuses solely on altering the default voicepack callsign, it does not modify aircraft textures or liveries. The changes are strictly audio-based. These updates will be especially beneficial if you regularly operate Vietnam Airlines routes or want to mirror the carrier’s official ATC communications.

Created by Ryan Gabuyo, this callsign is offered entirely free of charge and aims to deliver a more genuine airline interaction whenever you load up Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It should fit neatly into existing simulator setups without requiring separate add-ons beyond EditVoicePack X.
