This expertly crafted repaint showcases Eastern Air Lines’ historic “NC14969” markings on the iconic Douglas DC-2, developed by the Uiver Team X for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. All revenue gained from the original package is directed to the Aviodrome, the renowned Dutch National Aviation Museum. Created by Tim Scharnhop, this repaint meticulously reproduces the external appearance that once graced the skies in the 1930s. Note that the payware model itself is not included and must be acquired separately (for example, from SimShack).
Significance Of This Twin-Engine Legend
The DC-2 was a groundbreaking advancement over earlier passenger aircraft, introducing improved aerodynamics and enhanced payload capabilities. Eastern Air Lines employed this twin-prop design for routes across North America, taking advantage of its reliable airframe and streamlined fuselage. Pilots admired the way this classic airliner handled diverse weather conditions and appreciated its navigational offerings in its time, paving the way for future developments in commercial aviation.
