Notable Features of the Classic 737-200

The 737-200, originally introduced in the late 1960s, offers a distinctive silhouette set apart by its compact fuselage length and older Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines. Its robust airframe design served various operators worldwide, including corporate and mining support ventures. Such versatility makes this model an ideal choice for simmers who appreciate vintage flight decks and enjoy recreating unique commercial or industrial routes.

Steps for Seamless Integration

  1. Texture Folder Placement: Place the “texture.Xstrata C-FFAL” directory within the correct base model folder. The freeware base package, released by the FSX AI Bureau, must be acquired beforehand.
  2. Configuration Updates: Copy the [fltsim.x] data from this package into the aircraft.cfg file found in the base distribution. Make sure the numbering sequence continues properly (e.g., [fltsim.0], [fltsim.1], [fltsim.2], etc.). Do not leave gaps or overlap indices when adding more repaints.
  3. Assignment in AI Flightplans: Incorporate the aircraft into your preferred AI traffic schedules. This action populates virtual skies with realistic movements—especially suitable for replicating corporate transport or remote resource industry shuttle operations.

Flight Simulator Compatibility

These textures are crafted for FSX AI Bureau’s Boeing 737-200 model, ensuring optimal mapping on control surfaces, fuselage sections, and engines. As a freeware solution, the underlying model is conveniently accessible within the Fly Away Simulation library. Sim pilots who incorporate these repaint files have an opportunity to expand their collection of specialized transporter aircraft, further customizing how diverse flight schedules appear in-sim.

Additional Thoughts on Xstrata Nickel Operations

Although known primarily for mining and resource development, Xstrata Nickel’s aviation pursuits revolve around efficiently transporting personnel and equipment to remote sites. By introducing this livery into a virtual flight environment, simmers can replicate realistic corporate missions from resource-rich areas to major hubs, thus adding an extra layer of immersion to their simulated schedules.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
