Princess Juliana is the scenery of the International Airport of St-Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles. Adding the weather station,cars on the airport parking,extended the hill near Maho hôtel and adding the Juliana helibase.

Editorial

As a remake of an airport that I will never have the pleasure to visit most likely – my travels don’t tend to extend as far as St. Maarten – I found that having a little chance to fly to the real thing here in FS2004 would be a nice way for me to make up for that lack of ambition on my part.

This remake of the Princess Juliana International, a truly wonderful airport, is something that I was instantly attracted to as it would not only improve my simulation experience but it would make everything look that bit more authentic. For someone like myself, where authenticity matters, this was a big step in the right direction and something that I wished to try out.

The first thing I noticed was how similar this was to pictures that I swiped online to use as a comparison system. It looks great and it does a fine job of selling the airports genuine style and credentials; it makes the whole thing look awesome and as if it was an official package that was promoting the region in such a way.

Additionally, this package does a wonderful job of adding in little things that otherwise would have been missing – for example, an ILS has been added to the ninth runway which was something that was missing in the past.

You can tap into this running a 110.10 MHz frequency, which is a nice little touch that was not really a necessary addition but does a lot to add to the whole feature and style of this mod. However, this is actually a little bit of fiction as the real airport itself is not equipped with anything like this – if you can handle this betrayal to reality, then you will absolutely love the work this has put in.

The addition of things like the weather station as well as the full carpark does a nice little bit of work to ensuring the whole place looks as realistic as possible – it brings the entire location together and is a great little addition.

Also, if you look towards the hill near the Maho hotel you will notice just how awesome this now looks – the hill has been reworked to ensure it carries the same size that it does in real life. The addition of all of these lovely little extras will do wonders for making sure that you feel as if you are viewing something below you that is a true representation of the real thing.

Lastly, the addition of the Juliana Heli-base means that you can now officially come here and land with a chopper! These nice little touches do all they can to make this a destination I’ll be sure to return to the next time I happened to fire up FS004 for a little jaunt back in time.
