Editorial

Having picked this model up to try it out, being impressed by the preview photos, I have to say I wasn’t let down.

The developer, Sebastian Hecker, has done a great job of capturing the real look and feel of this particular model. Not only is it appropriately detailed and designed to make sure it looks the way that it does in reality, but Hecker has gone to great lengths to conform to the model he was using.

The original model was created by Kirk Olsson. Hecker has taken the work by Olsson and added to it, creating a captivating take on the F-16, and making it look much better than before. I was really impressed with the detail on the livery – it does a real service to the aircraft.

The striking nature of the new paint job also adds to the lethal look of the aircraft. When flying at a rapid enough pace this literally just looks like a massive arrow, blazing through the skies. It’s this extra attention to getting the shape and style of the aircraft spot on that does such a great job with this mod.

It ensures that the painting job comes across looking flash and authentic, whilst using the original model for added balance. This extra detail in the model goes a long way to ensuring that the aircraft feels more striking (as it should) whilst also using the authentic layout and performance data from the original model to strike the right mix.

Overall, this is the kind of aircraft mod that I would be happy to recommend. It’s fun to fly, authentic to use and captures the most important details closely. If you are looking for a model that looks and feels a little more engaging but still follows authentic protocol, try this out. The developer has done a good job of making a professional looking livery for a great take on a famous piece of military history.

FS2004 has never looked so good!
