Enhance your simulation library with this fictional Swiss International Airlines repaint of the Airbus A380-800. Designed specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, this texture package offers a realistic design based on the Project Airbus template. The livery features distinctive Swiss-inspired markings, presenting a unique variant for those who want to explore long-haul operations under a Swiss flag carrier aesthetic.

Distinctive Swiss Touch

This repaint depicts an Airbus A380-800 in the colors of Swiss International Airlines, though the airline does not operate A380s in reality. Swiss International Air Lines (often referred to simply as “Swiss”) is the national airline of Switzerland, headquartered near Zurich. While it is primarily known for its Airbus A330, A340, and various narrow-body fleets, this fictional package allows virtual pilots to envision transcontinental routes on a double-deck A380, the largest passenger airliner currently in service.

Key Paint Details

  • Texture Format: High-resolution 32-bit BMP files for clear detailing
  • Paint Source: Created using the official Project Airbus pa380_paintkit.zip
  • Compatibility: Exclusively designed for the Project Airbus base model (pa380_house.zip)
  • Artist/Developer: Paul Craig

Project Airbus Base Model

This repaint relies on the advanced Project Airbus A380-800 model, which showcases innovative features such as dynamic wingflex, highly accurate Lift Augmentation Function (LAF), parallel landing gear bogies, drooping control surfaces, hardcoded double strobes, and an extensive array of custom XML variables that faithfully replicate real-world A380 behavior. You will need to acquire the freeware pa380_house.zip (found in the Fly Away Simulation file library) for the repaint to function correctly.

Installation Instructions

  1. Extract the contents of the download package into a temporary folder.
  2. Locate your primary A380-800 folder within the “SimObjects/Airplanes/” directory of Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This might be found at:
    OS (C):/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator X/SimObjects/Airplanes/A380-800
  3. Copy and paste the texture.Swiss Int folder into your existing A380-800 folder.

Aircraft Configuration File (aircraft.cfg)

Before adjusting any files, it is recommended to back up your original aircraft.cfg. Then open the existing configuration file and add the following entry underneath the last [fltsim.x] section. Replace the “X” with your next sequential number:

Additional Information

This freeware package includes only the repaint. The base Project Airbus model (pa380_house.zip) is essential for proper installation and must be downloaded separately. All credit for the A380-800 model goes to the Project Airbus group, while the Swiss International Airlines textures were meticulously developed by Paul Craig.
