Since the release of Service Pack 2 for FSX, a number of texture problems have arisen with older aircraft.
I was having a problem with Hauke Keitel's PA28R 201 Piper Arrow 3 package (pa28r201.zip) with texture
reflections on the cockpit glass, but only when not flying in daytime hours. Specifically, during dusk,
night and dawn hours, the reflections used on the cockpit glass had no transparency, so I couldn't see
anything outside of my cockpit. After doing some extensive searching for some fix or update for this
wonderful aircraft and ending up empty-handed, I thought I'd try and fix the textures myself. Fortunately,
all that was needed was simply adding an alpha channel to each of the glass files, and I was able to
finally see out my cockpit windows again during dusk, night and dawn. I played around quite a bit with the
alpha layer's darkness to try and get a good blend of reflections without sacrificing visibility. The reflected textures are purely the work of Hauke Keitel, and I take no credit for them, all I did was add the alpha
channels.

Since I figured I may not be the only one experiencing this minor issue since SP2, I thought I might share the
minor changes I made to the glass texture files to help anyone else that is encountering this issue.

Installation

Step 1: Make sure to backup an original copy of your glas1_T.bmp, glas2_T.bmp, glas3_T.bmp and glas4_T.bmp
files from one of your texture directories (for example,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\Piper28R201\texture.DEILU)
before proceeding.

Step 2: Unzip the contents of pa28r201_sp2_cgfix.zip to a temporary folder.

Step 3: Copy glas1_T.bmp, glas2_T.bmp, glas3_T.bmp and glas4_T.bmp from the temporary folder into the texture folder
for each PA28R 201 Piper Arrow 3 that is affected by the transparency problem during non-daylight hours.
