Editorial

Although I pride myself on my general aviation knowledge, I have to admit that my overall knowledge of the Lancair Legacy was quite limited. It was, therefore, an aircraft download that I installed with a bit of excitement in the air – most of the time I come with a fairly explicit list of things that I expect to see operating correctly, otherwise I just don’t really want to take part.

This, however, was something with limited experience to me so it was going to be very interesting to take it on and see what I was dealing with!

I will say, though, that I was very impressed. The work of the guys on this aircraft has been excellent – I’ve since spent some time examining and comparing the design here with the real thing, and the similarities are there for all to see.

By all accounts, too, what I read online and what I have listened to from professionals –and what I’ve read in manuals – has made me believe that this is pretty much as close to the real thing as you are likely to find in freeware flight simulation modifications. It’s a hugely useful addition to any pilots garage.

It was created using fully moving parts so the aircraft looks far more authentic than some of the more static models we’ve seen in the past, whilst it also comes with some very specific additions such as Fowler flaps, speed breaks and landing lights to name but a few of the key features that have been included in here. It’s got a detailed and very intricate retractable landing gear, too, and makes for very impressive viewing thanks to the quality of the animations that have been created.

The detailed virtual cockpit, too, is very impressive as it manages to capture all of the details that others might insignificant, but are very important to helping complete the whole experience.

Best of all, though, the VC is full illuminated with gauges at night time so you will be able to see everything that you need with ease when the night is not being particularly kind to you in terms of your cockpit visibility. This makes a big difference in many ways, ensuring that you can see what you are doing, and will improve your overall function within the aircraft as you fly.

Another big point to me, though, was the addition of the moving pilots head that makes the whole thing feel that extra bit more enjoyable and authentic.

The model and texture quality, though, was massively important to me and it was extremely well received in many ways for me. The exterior textures reflect and rotate regularly, making it very easy for you to spot the attention to detail in the quality of the lighting throughout. The package also comes with three very well done paint schemes, making it easy for you to pick the look that you like the most.

The contributions and overall quality of this package, though, is very much worth your time!

i also don't have some critical instruments displayed, the plane has a good flight model, but i dont have a speed indicator or engine instruments :/

The finest flying model in my fleet! with one of the most outstanding 3-D cockpits I"ve seen. Hats off to the creator of this model. Can be a little tricky to install; After copying Gaugesound.dll to the root directory delete the DLL folder from the model folder,else FS will report incomapable aircraft when starting FS. Also if the Guagesound.dll is not in the root directory the Legacy 1ASI.gua will cause FS to crash immediately after clicking FLY NOW.

If you haven't downloaded this one, you owe it to yourself to try it. It's fun and easy to fly. It has just enough bells and whistles for those less than experienced to get a bang flying it.

This Lancair worked perfect. Those who download this would find that the Readme_1st on step 2 says, some have found Gaugesound.dll unnecessary. In that case i pasted the Gaugesound.dll file in the MAIN Fs9 and tryed . Without that dll.. you probably gonna have some critical errors when you try to load this aircraft. And it ask you to reload your game. /Daniel
