Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This comprehensive freeware package delivers a fully upgraded Lancair Legacy 2000 for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It features custom paint variations, an enhanced cockpit configuration, and numerous refinements adapted from the original 2004 design. Developed by Robert Christopher and further fine-tuned by Mark Rooks of RDG Aircraft, this release emphasizes streamlined panel elements, improved visual details, and straightforward installation instructions—ensuring a complete and rewarding virtual flying experience.

Evolution of the Legacy Model

The Legacy family traces its roots to Lancair’s kitplane innovation, led by founder Lance Neibauer in 1984. By 1999, the Legacy 2000 succeeded the time-tested 320/360 designs, offering a refined airframe that balances cabin room, luggage capacity, and high-speed capabilities. Its 310 hp Continental IO-550-N engine propels this sleek aircraft to cruising velocities exceeding 276 mph, a testament to Lancair’s commitment to performance.

Refined Avionics and Panel Setup

Mark Rooks has meticulously overhauled both the 2D and 3D cockpit displays, incorporating default gauges for minimal system conflicts and better loading times. These refinements offer sharper readouts and improved ergonomics, giving sim pilots a comfortable transition between instruments. A clear canopy modification (with instructions) showcases the elegant details of the interior and enhances overall visibility.

Fresh Exterior Liveries

This complete package includes three unique paint schemes that highlight the aircraft’s dynamic lines and modern aesthetic. Each livery showcases detailed work on the fuselage and wings, ensuring that You’ll encounter distinct visual flair every time you take off.

Optional Support Flight

Within the simulation community, many pilots dedicate flights to charitable missions. Because of the Legacy’s speed and agility, some users enjoy performing mercy or rescue flights. Consider supporting a real-world flight organization if you merge virtual flight with charitable goals.

Installation Guidelines

  1. Unzip the downloaded folder to a temporary directory of your choosing. Back up any original files if necessary.
  2. Locate your primary Aircraft folder, usually found at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes.
  3. Move the unzipped “Legacy FSX” folder, which contains six vital components (CFG, Airfile, Model, Sound, Panel, and Texture), into that aircraft directory.
  4. No custom gauge installation is needed, as this package employs the simulator’s default instruments.

The cockpit panel is designed to simplify operations, allowing the Legacy to be flown as soon as installation is complete. Be sure all files are fully extracted before starting the simulator.

Hi, everything is great. But no one has advised me about this:

When I start the game, it shows: scenery CFG. FILE ERROR INVALID REMOTE SCENERY PATH, IN SCENERY AREA 168 (and other numbers). Click to continue.

With each launch of MFSX, more of these appear. Could you please advise?
