This repaint delivers a historically accurate rendition of Guernsey Aero Club’s Cessna 172 G-BKEV, originally flown for years in local flight training and general aviation activities. Created by Ian Roussel, it is intended for Microsoft Flight Simulator X users seeking a more localized feel around the Channel Islands region, while still benefiting from the robust handling characteristics of Cessna’s renowned single-engine platform.

Guernsey Aero Club G-BKEV Project Details

Within this package, you will find a finely tuned exterior texture for the default FSX Skyhawk. It reflects G-BKEV’s dark blue accents and precise registration marks—elements that many enthusiasts will recall from its regular presence at Guernsey Airport. Since this texture is freeware, keep in mind that the underlying model is not included. The base model, developed by Microsoft Corporation, can be accessed from the Fly Away Simulation mod library if you need to acquire it.

Aircraft Origins

The Cessna 172, often referred to as the Skyhawk, was introduced in the mid-1950s, and over 35,000 units have been produced worldwide. Thanks to its tricycle-gear layout and forgiving flight envelope, it quickly became a top pick among pilot training organizations. At Guernsey Aero Club, the G-BKEV variant served as a mainstay for flight students and casual flyers, blending reliability and straightforward maintenance needs with an approachable cockpit layout.

description="A stable and trustworthy plane, most pilots have logged at least a few hours in a Cessna 172, since it's the most widely available aircraft in the rental fleet, and is used by most flight schools. Since the first prototype was completed in 1955, more than 35,000 C172s have been produced, making it the world's most popular single-engine plane. One of Cessna's first tricycle-gear airplanes, the 172 quickly became the favorite of a growing class of business pilots. Its reliability and easy handling (along with thoughtful engineering and structural updates) have ensured its continued popularity for decades."

This set reflects the many operational hours logged under the Guernsey Aero Club and preserves the visual essence of this training and touring workhorse. Enjoy the enhanced realism as you traverse virtual skies around Guernsey and beyond.
