This freeware repaint introduces the English Electric Canberra WT369 livery, meticulously tailored for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Created by Henry William, it builds upon the AlphaSim model to offer a faithful texture update that captures the airframe’s military heritage. It preserves the high-altitude reconnaissance profile and showcases the classic lines that made the Canberra a pivotal bomber in numerous air forces worldwide.
Historical Background of the Canberra Platform
The original English Electric Canberra first took to the skies in the early 1950s. Its airframe quickly gained recognition for impressive service ceilings, which allowed it to ascend far beyond the reach of many interceptor aircraft of that era. With variants in both British and American production, the Canberra’s adaptability spanned from nuclear strike to photo reconnaissance. Although these bombers carried no defensive armament in several configurations, their performance and handling remained a benchmark for jet-powered military aviation throughout the mid-20th century.
Notable Features of WT369
This specific variant, marked as “WT369,” carries the unique color scheme and tactical markings representative of the period. Henry William’s repaint focuses on replicating the correct insignias, fin flashes, and fuselage details to celebrate the aircraft’s streamlined design. Enthusiasts who prefer flying historical jets in Microsoft Flight Simulator X can appreciate the subtle details on the wings and fuselage, which recreate much of the authentic wartime aesthetics.
Installation Procedure
Please note that this package only delivers the new texture set, so the AlphaSim Canberra must already be installed in your simulator folder. Follow the steps below:
- Extract the texture.wt369 folder from the downloaded archive to any location of your choice.
- Move the texture.wt369 folder to the primary directory where the AlphaSim Canberra is located. For many setups, the path is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\ALPHA EE Canberra
- Open the aircraft.cfg file, often found in the same directory, using a text editor. Insert the following entry after your final existing [fltsim] section, making sure to replace “XX” with the next sequence number:
[fltsim.xx]

description=© ALPHA Simulations 2005\n\nThe English Electric Canberra was first flown in 1950, and yet there were still versions of this fine aircraft in service at the outset of the 21st century. An excellent design overall, the type was also adopted and manufactured in the United States as the Martin B-57. A large number of variants were produced, including high-altitude reconnaissance, attack, nuclear strike, night interdiction, and trainers. The type was initially intended to fly very high and fast and was thus equipped with no defensive armament. Several speed and altitude records were garnered by the Canberra in the years immediately following its introduction into service. In 1957, a rocket-boosted Canberra flew to over 70,000 feet, a staggering altitude at the time.

Sound Alias Configuration
By default, this repaint references the Hawker Hunter sound set developed by David Garwood, indicated by the “sound=alias=\Hunter FGA9\Sound” line above. If you have not installed the David Garwood Hawker Hunter package, its audio files may be unavailable. In that case, direct the sound alias to a suitable aircraft folder you already have set up in your simulator.
Final Notes
This repaint is offered free of charge and delivers an authentic representation of the English Electric Canberra WT369. Built by Henry William on the foundation laid out by AlphaSim, this texture update captures a vital piece of jet history for those who appreciate precision in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Enjoy flying the skies as you put the Canberra’s high-altitude capability and distinct silhouette to the test.
