Unzip to a folder of your choice. Copy the aircraft folder to the airplanes folder. Copy the effects to the main FS effects folder.

See [reference speeds] section of the aircraft.cfg file for operating speeds.

You can cruise at a lower mach number if you wish to.

NOTE: THE FLAMES WILL NOT FOLLOW THE ENGINE NOZZLES WHEN THEY GO UP AND DOWN; TO DO THIS THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE PART OF THE MODEL FILE.

The weapons bay can be toggled open and closed from the weapon panel that is part of the multi-function display. It will not toggle by using the shift+E+2 keys that the original read me says will toggle it. At least not in FSX.

The tail hook toggles with T+H, not just T.

Editorial

Having used the old F-22 Raptor mod for FSX, I was keen to try out this update as whilst it impressed me in the past it was a bit limited and on the buggy side so I thought it might be time try out for something new and exciting.

This mod updates the old Virtavia remake of the aircraft so it does a great job of taking from a strong starting point and improving it even further.

After many hours of messing around in the skies with the new and improved Raptor, I have to say that I am incredibly impressed. So, what’s so impressive?

Fresh and Improved

First off, this mod changes nearly everything that it possibly could about the mod. From the new trim gauges that add another level of realism to the improved nav lighting to make your flights more accurate right down to the changing of the smaller lights this really brings together something fresh and interesting.

The new afterburner flames make a nice addition, too, adding another nice little layer of authenticity to some much needed features and changes. This really helps to bring the whole thing together and make something engaging and interesting, offering something new and engaging that you can really fall in line with relatively quickly.

Bob Chicilo, the creator, has done a great job on this update. He also improved features like the way that you will fly thanks to the ability to cruise at lower Mach numbers than before. This is a nice little touch and does offer another nice little bonus from an operational point of view.

New Changes

Additionally, the adding in of the new weapons bay is very impressive and further demonstrates its ability to showcase an easy way to fly your aircraft. They can be opened and closed from the weapons panel on the MFD or you can just hit SHIFT+E+2 and this will do it for you. What I did really find impressive was how response this system is, giving you an easy way to control things like the weapon bays and watch it all unfold around you. It’s these little changes that make such a telling difference over the original.

I would be happy to recommend this in the future, but would caution that it can be a bit of a drain on resources if you are using a low-to-medium end machine so be sure to look out for this. Overall, though? It makes a huge difference and should ensure that you can fly your aircraft with minimal problems in the future. It’s easy to get to grips with and should give you a fair and easily balanced model of what this aircraft is capable of.

Sorry for this basic question, but after I unzip the file, copy the aircraft into the one for all the FSX planes, and then put the effects into the effects folder for FSX, where do I find the aircraft? I opened up FSX and was unable to find it in the normal aircraft list, or other places on the game.

Yes, the lights are still flying high above the wing tips, but you can always turn them off with the "L" key. I fixed the goofy after burner flames, at least to my own liking, by deleting the F-22 Raptor BURNER FLAMES file from the FSX EFFECTS folder. You can still see the burners coming on within the exhaust nozzles, but without the misaligned external flames. It looks much better this way.
