This updated release is a freeware rotorcraft package that replicates the Eurocopter EC-505 Tiger, intended for those who use FS2004. Created by A. Meyer, it introduces refined external visuals, improved cockpit modeling, and multiple variant details. It provides an authentic representation of a multi-role combat platform known for its low radar cross-section, formidable loadout, and dependable flight behavior. Below is a comprehensive look at its main features, supported Tiger variants, and installation guidelines.
Overview
This Eurocopter rotor-based platform is engineered for air-to-air engagements, ground attack, and armed reconnaissance nhi?m (mission) profiles. Designers prioritized survivability through minimized radar, visual, and infrared signatures. Lightweight systems, combined with dual MTR390 powerplants (turboshaft engines providing enhanced performance), enable stable handling during advanced maneuvers.
Primary Variants
The virtual package includes three main user-configurable variants, each reflecting a unique operational role and national service application.
Tiger HAP (Helicoptere d’Appui Protection)
This French Army-specific configuration integrates a turreted 30 mm cannon, 68 mm rocket pods, and Mistral missiles designed for close support and air-to-air missions. It is equipped with robust avionics, such as multifunction color displays and advanced warning receivers (radar/laser), ensuring situational awareness in both day and night conditions. The infrared and TV camera sensors embedded in the targeting system facilitate precision engagements without overstressing the crew.
Tiger UHT (Unterstützungshubschrauber)
Developed for the German Bundeswehr, this multi-role support incarnation excels in anti-tank and air-to-ground operations. It maintains the ability to carry Trigat or HOT missiles for armor engagements, plus 68 mm rockets for suppressive fire. Additionally, users can fit a 12.7 mm gun pod or Stinger missiles if required. A mast-mounted sight incorporates second-generation IRCCD (Infrared Charge-Coupled Device) and TV functions, while nose-mounted FLIR aids pilot visibility. Defensive aids include decoy dispensers and sensors that detect radar, laser, and missile threats.
Tiger ARH (Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter)
The ARH, adapted for the Australian Army, replaces older Kiowa and Iroquois-based gunship designs. It features upgraded MTR390 engines for extra lift and a laser designator outfitted in the Strix sight, enabling Hellfire II missile launches. Operational flexibility is bolstered by 70 mm rockets sourced from Forges de Zeebruges, ensuring the platform can handle diverse battlefield roles.
Developer Note: Model and textures have been meticulously prepared by A. Meyer to highlight recognizable details of each Tiger adaptation.
