This freeware update completely refreshes the environment at Orly International Airport (LFPO), located just south of the city in Paris, France. Authored by Ray Smith, it enhances the default Microsoft Flight Simulator X rendition of this major aviation facility, offering updated ground layouts, improved runway operations, and newly configured parking assignments.
Modernized Airfield Layout and Parking
The developer has rebuilt various surfaces using the latest Airport Design Editor (ADE) version 1.37, ensuring accurate taxiways and service vehicle routes. In particular, there is notable attention to terminal parking spots, which now accommodate a range of airliner sizes. Additionally, the cargo apron benefits from extra floodlight effects, especially visible for those who have the Acceleration expansion installed.
Crosswind Runway Option for Dynamic Traffic
Two BGL files are included to control runway usage. One version enables the crosswind runway technique pioneered by Jim Vile, allowing all three runways to operate simultaneously for takeoffs and landings. This feature may cause ATIS to reference several pseudo-runways, but that is simply a side effect of the crosswind method. If you prefer the more conventional airport flow, switch to the alternate BGL file without multiple active runways.
Detailed Adjustments and Extra Services
- Road networks around the airfield have been refined to improve ground service traffic.
- Additional fuel trucks have been made available, simplifying refueling procedures.
- Multiple parking spots have been supplied to accommodate different aircraft sizes, easing congestion.
Installation Instructions
- Navigate to the
Addon Scenery/scenery
folder found within your main Flight Simulator X directory. - Pick the BGL file (crosswind active or standard runway setup) that suits your preference.
- Copy that single BGL file into the aforementioned
scenery
folder. - When you launch Microsoft Flight Simulator X afterward, the modifications will be visible.
Important: Always make sure only one LFPO file is active; having multiple LFPO-related BGL files in the same folder can cause conflicting parking or layout issues.
Removing the Modification
To revert to the default airport setup, locate and delete the LFPO BGL file from your Addon Scenery/scenery
directory. FSX will then fall back to its original files.
Additional Lighting Effects
Users with the Acceleration pack installed will notice enhanced illumination in key cargo zones and other sections. These overhead lights help with nighttime ground operations and provide a more immersive feel.

Controlling the Tower View
While in Tower View at LFPO, you can assign a custom key or controller button to the “View track/pan Toggle.” When pressed, this function allows you to pan easily around the airport using a hat switch, offering a full 360-degree perspective from atop the control tower. Activating the toggle again returns the view to its default position.
Enjoy this carefully refined version of Orly International Airport, and experience smoother operations in your virtual flights.
