Richard Goldstein's (aka Georender) latest title in the Georender range of sceneries was released a few months ago already, but still people continue to discover it. This title was released as the first in a new series (New World Series) from the new publishing compny FSAddon. 'Jorin' from the German FS website Flugsimulation.de took a look at the scenery and reports (in German) on this great product.

Orcas Island Scenery

Orcas Island is a beautiful strip of land situated in San Juan County in Washington State. It is a diversified island built around small villages and shaped in the form of a horseshoe in the map.

FSAddon brings you detailed and realistic simulation of this scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator customers. The file size is very small and can be downloaded online. Installing this package is quick. All you have to do is extract and run the executable file. Enter the registration key and you are done.

A PDF format user manual comes with the package and provides comprehensive information about compatibility, system requirements, recommended settings, and airfield details. Once you open the application a rendering enhancement tool takes over. There are three options to choose namely bump map, runway textures and taxiway markings. The bump map can be used to add textures to the runway surfaces. You can also change the resolution and the color of the taxiway markings using this tool. The control panel can be used to activate and deactivate airport clutters, three dimensional objects, sounds, and air traffic.

Six different sounds are included namely car park sounds, ambient marina sounds, telephone ringing sounds, ambient birds in trees sounds, conversation sounds and plane flying overhead sounds. Once you select the aircraft, location, weather and season you are ready to go.

The scenery is stunning with real world coastlines, beaches, cliffs and mountains. The airfield buildings, trees and flocks of birds flying is very realistic and beautiful to watch. Some of the other features include an accurate modeling of three different airfields in the strip, highly detailed harbor, night lighting, dense vegetations, historic places of interest and animated people.

The simple user guide, stunning visuals, and the enhanced performance make this one of the best add-on for both amateurs and experienced flying enthusiasts.
