This freeware release offers a detailed Boeing 747-200 model painted in a realistic Air Force One scheme, carefully optimized for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Developed by Project Open Sky with livery work by Bill Kovatchev, it integrates authentically animated elements, true-to-life flight handling, and a complete base package for those who enjoy piloting a classic long-range jet. Below, you will find comprehensive details highlighting its capabilities and instructions for setting it up in your simulator.

Above: A preview of the Air Force One Boeing 747-200 in simulated flight.
Specialized Flight Deck and Exterior Modeling
- Articulated Control Surfaces: Each aileron, elevator, and rudder segment moves with precision, reflecting the 747-200’s real-world feel.
- Suspension and Bogies: The landing gear features responsive animations and angled bogies, ensuring authentic ground handling.
- Full Reflectivity: The exterior textures leverage various reflection intensities based on each component’s material properties.
- Engine Reversers and Spoilers: Accurate thrust reverser deployment and spoiler articulation mirror genuine Boeing characteristics.
- Night Lighting: Exterior lighting and illuminated windows heighten realism during dusk and nighttime operations.
Advanced Technical Foundations
This rendition captures the 747-200's extensive capabilities, mirroring the real Air Force One variant used by the United States Air Force. Though the real 747s employed for presidential transport are designated VC-25, certain external features are faithfully mirrored here to celebrate this truly iconic aircraft. The creators implemented an advanced flight model to reflect realistic engine response, weight distribution, and aerodynamic subtleties.

- Transparent navigation light covers placed on the wingtips and fuselage to enhance visual authenticity.
- Full range of motion on trim surfaces, main gear steering, and flexing wings during various aerodynamic loads.
- Reflective cockpit windows that respond to environmental lighting and ensure an immersive view from the flight deck.
- Distinct crash effects that trigger during unplanned impacts, adding another layer of immersion.
Installation Steps
- Unzip the package and locate the aircraft folder included in this download.
- Place that folder inside your main “Aircraft” directory under Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
- Confirm that the texture, model, and sound subfolders are recognized by the simulator upon launch.
Typical Usage and Key Commands
To operate the various doors, use standard default simulator inputs such as Shift + E for the passenger entrance. Assign the “Arrest Hook” control for toggling the primary cargo bay, and use the “Wing Fold” function for any additional cargo door segments. These shortcuts can be modified within the simulator’s control assignments if needed.

Nice airplane and flys nice and heavy and I love the dynamics. but is crashes the game when switching view. only sometimes this happens. otherwise I fly it real nice and have not crashed it. I might have dammaged the landing gear . sat her down little too hard. it bounced.
Something is not right. I downloaded and installed as instructed FS2004 will not load the A/C. I see it in the A/C selection but when I select it and press "Fly Now" the A/C will not load and FS2004 freezes up and I have to restart my PC. Too bad it looks like a really nice airplane.
