Experience a meticulously detailed Air Madrid A330-200 for FS2004, reflecting authentic airline colors and enhanced systems throughout. This freeware release, designed by Project Open Sky and repainted by Tomas Cubero Maingot, integrates a modernized exterior, refined flight deck, and several extra functionalities that significantly boost realism. Flight simulation enthusiasts will discover dynamic wing movement, sophisticated lighting, and integrated effects that replicate genuine operations for this wide-body twin-engine airliner originally produced by Airbus.
Exemplary External Engineering
Project Open Sky’s development team, led by model designer Shervin Ahooraei, has delivered an exceptional representation of the A330 configuration. The inclusion of dynamic shine ensures the fuselage and control surfaces reflect surrounding light conditions, conveying a lifelike finish. Flexing wings respond fluidly to airflow changes, while animated thrust reversers and tilting bogies add another level of authenticity. The nose contours and belly are re-sculpted for improved accuracy, and additional vent scoops under the aircraft (activated via Shift+W) further expand the realism envelope.

Detailed Surfaces and Texturing
High-resolution textures meticulously capture the aircraft’s leading-edge flaps, flawless landing gear, and engine fan blades. Each area features independent reflectivity, producing a carefully balanced shine. The park mode (triggered with Shift+F) allows ailerons and elevators to droop, imitating the resting posture of the airplane while parked at the gate. These refinements mirror what one would observe when the real A330 is shut down and secured on the tarmac.
Immersive Internal Features
The virtual cockpit, with textures by Gary Hayes, delivers a three-dimensional environment for operators who prefer the immersive vantage of a pilot. Integrated night lighting and reflective cockpit windows enable realistic carrier operations during prolonged transatlantic missions. Virtual cockpit gauges, thanks to special contributions by Eric Marciano, provide essential flight data without sacrificing clarity. Additionally, the release includes a default panel and sound package, allowing immediate integration into FS2004.
Refined Flight Characteristics
Flight Dynamics Designer Warren C. Daniel, in collaboration with FDE advisors Nick Peterson and Simon Ng Hin Tat, shaped the aircraft’s performance parameters. Users can expect dependable engine response, lifelike lift and drag profiles, and proper weight distribution for every phase of flight. This build also simulates rolling main wheels, flaperons, crash effects, and accurate suspension behavior, ensuring controlled takeoffs, landings, and transitions across varying airport pavements.
Key Interaction and Animations
- Primary Doors: Operated via Shift+E and Shift+T, ensuring separate left and right door management.
- Cargo Hatches: Activate these using Shift+E+2 to simulate efficient ground handling and secure container loading.
- Condensation & Lighting: Visual mist and enhanced lighting effects contribute a natural atmosphere amidst diverse weather settings.
Installation and Integration
Extract the downloaded package into a temporary folder. Move the enclosed aircraft folder to your simulator’s Aircraft directory, and transfer the included effects items to the main Effects folder. After this process, you can immerse yourself in the modernized Air Madrid experience, powered by Project Open Sky’s innovative modeling.
