Editorial

This remake of the P-51D Mustang was something that caught my eye quickly, and made an excellent play of making sure that I could finally get to try out this lovely little aircraft completely equipped with all of correct additions and extras. The whole package makes sure that you will have no problems whatsoever in making sure that the P-51D comes across to you as the right kind of aircraft; it’s something that really does ensure you can have some fun in this kind of aircraft as this model does a great job of selling that to you just the way that it would be if you were buying one in person!

Preview screenshot

The mod concentrates deeply on making sure the most basic functions and features are included so that it flies perfectly, and then made sure they had everything else. For a start, the mod looks great and does everything it can to sell and promote the aircraft with an in-scale model that has wonderful textures and all of the little features and additions taken care of. It also does a wonderful job of making sure that you have a range of modeled gauges to pick from within the cockpit, as the interior has had just as much work carried out inside of it as the exterior.

The exterior model has those wonderful photorealistic textures that update the entire aircraft and make it look far more modern, up to date with some of the finest in FSX modding, and it also works alongside a compact and totally operational Virtual Cockpit that comes with 3D model gauges, unique special effects and a fresh range of sounds. All of this together and you are left with a model that does not hold back and makes sure you equally love performance, persistence and reality all in the one wonderfully crafted selection.

All of these goods come together and ensure you are left with something safe and secure that really does capture the feel-good factor of this specific model. A positive aircraft that was made for so many purposes, this does a wonderful job of portraying that positivity and bashful nature into a model that really does do all it can to help you understand why the P-51D is so well loved.

With all of these new effects added in there to make it look even more authentic, you are left with a package that wonderfully portrays what makes the world of flight simulation so incredibly fun. Add all of this together and you have a respectfully created and authentic remake of one of the most bashful aircraft of its era, now fully capable of being used to full effect within FSX today!

It crashes my computer every time I go to an outside view. I'm the only one complaining of that so it must be some problem with my setup. Looks and sounds great though. Lots of little details in the vc that make it a gem. I would have given it a ten if I could get the external views to work.

Awesome download. Love the plane. Cool drop tanks, watch them drop away! The different aircraft paint scheme photos did not show up in the aircraft selection area of FSX- I moved the picture of the aircraft (pic of the bird featured on this site) into each of the texture folders and named it "thumbnail", the pic then shows up in FSX aircraft selection window. (Hey, its better than the question mark over an airplane shadow!) The virtual cockpit is awesome! Every button in the cockpit works, even the option to have the pilot wear oxygen mask and ray-bans! A++++ Fun to fly, great sound, aircraft paint schemes are UNREAL!! Most comprehensive add-on I've seen. - "Two niner zero" @ N72

Great aircraft and graphics! Everything works. Has auto load feature (plus!) Just took a minute to figure out that it created a FS9 folder and the file had to be moved to FSX.

Great download, worked well following the suggestions in the other comments. The panel and exterior looks very good, the plane seems to fly very well indeed and I was really blown away by the sound, it's terrific.

For those not able to find it - the autoinstaller creates an FS9 folder in Microsoft Games and installs the P51 there instead of the FSX Program Files folder. Just move the P51 folder into the FSx Aircraft folder, and move the Effects files into the FSX Effects folder, and it will run like a champ. This is one of the best Add Ons I've downloaded. The only glitch is the lack of a 2D cockpit, but I'm exclusively a 3D cockpit simmer, so I'm happy. Also, the plane's previews don't show up in the Aircraft Select screen, but once you select one of the 6 schemes, it does show up in the main preview screen.

Only 1 thing: -run the install program FIRST in a temp dir. Then create a folder in simobjects-aircraft. Name as u want and put inside all the files u have in the originaly temp folder u used. There is a repaint install soft that i did not tried... Use Virtualcokpit. All zork.
