FS2004 Douglas DC-3 Three Fuel Tank

Douglas DC-3 fuel management gains realism in FS2004 by preventing the simulator from silently setting engine feed to “all” tanks. The included gauge monitors the ECU selectors and automatically restores left and right engines to their respective main tanks, keeping lever indications honest while leaving manual tank switching available during flight.

This gauge and modification is applicable only to the FS2004 DC-3. Its purpose is to disable FS2004's default characteristic of setting the fuel flow to the engines from "all" tanks. There is no "all" setting on a real DC3.

The stock FS2004 DC-3 has working fuel tank selector levers on the ECU panel. There is no "all" position shown on the selectors, which is an accurate graphical representation of the real DC-3 selectors. However, without your knowledge FS2004 may set the engines to draw from "all" tanks, despite the fact that the levers point to the default switch positions (left main for left engine, and right main for right engine). A way to discover this "error" is to hover the mouse over a tank select lever, and see if it says "all" instead of the tank the lever points to. Moving the lever will eliminate the "all" and fix the lever for the duration of that session.

This gauge will disable the fuel flow from "all" tanks, by checking to see if the selection is in the "all" position and if so, changing it to supply fuel to the left engine from the left main tank, and fuel to the right engine from right main tank. It means, however, that you must remember to manually switch tanks to use fuel from all of them during the flight.

Note that there is no connection between the fuel tank selectors on the ECU and the fuel gauge selector on the main panel, which simply controls the display of tank status on its associated fuel gauge. Fuel management is controlled on the ECU.

Note also that this modification should not be used in conjunction with DC3_4TK.ZIP, our separate modification of the DC-3 into four-tank configuration.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FS2004 add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per readme

    FS2004 add-ons go into FS9\Aircraft\, FS9\Addon Scenery\, FS9\Gauges\, or FS9\Effects\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
