This USAF Boeing 377 Stratocruiser repaint, prepared for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, features a historically inspired livery that reflects the later-era military operations of this iconic aircraft. Created by Sean Doran, with texture conversion assistance from Stefan Flechsig, this add-on provides only the exterior textures. The original payware model by A2A Simulations is required and is not included here; you will need to acquire it through a vendor such as SimShack.
Notable Characteristics of the Boeing 377 Variant
The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser is a radially powered airliner adapted from the post-World War II development cycle of Boeing’s strategic bombers. Although its lineage traces back to the C-97 and B-50 Superfortress, it evolved into a refined, pressurized passenger and cargo transport with an enlarged upper fuselage, granting extended range during intercontinental flights. This characteristic design set it apart from contemporaries such as the Lockheed Constellation and Douglas DC-7. With the USAF markings, the aircraft displayed here offers simmers an opportunity to experience a rare military adaptation of the Stratocruiser’s versatile airframe.
Visual Add-On Highlights
- Detailed Exterior Paint: This texture set showcases military insignias and markings, accurately replicating the USAF livery designated as 0151.
- Refined PBR Textures: When used with the latest simulator rendering engines, the metallic finish and subtle weathering become more pronounced.
- Authentic Fuselage Modeling: The payware A2A Simulations model depicts the unique shape of the Stratocruiser’s fuselage structure, enabling the realistic placement of these military-inspired markings.

description=Like the C-97, the 377 was developed towards the end of World War II by adapting an enlarged upper fuselage onto the lower fuselage and wings which were essentially the same as the B-50 Superfortress, the high-performance evolution of the B-29 Superfortress bomber. The 377 was larger and longer ranged than the Lockheed Constellation and Douglas DC-7, with nonstop transatlantic range, but the P&W R-4360 Wasp Major engines proved uneconomical, with production ending in 1950.
