NASA Boeing 377 Stratocruiser Guppy
A repaint of the payware a2a Simulations Boeing WoS B377 Pregnant Guppy. Text…
Aero Spacelines markings for the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser recreate a rarely seen, unconverted Guppy-era airframe with registration N74603 and period-correct Northwest lineage details. The high-resolution repaint complements the A2A Simulations model with crisp exterior textures and matching virtual cockpit ambience in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, and requires the payware base aircraft.
This repaint package introduces a historical Aero Spacelines-themed livery for the payware A2A Simulations Boeing 377 Stratocruiser in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It honors a unique airframe that once belonged to Northwest Airlines and later ended up in Aero Spacelines’ fleet—but never underwent a Guppy conversion. Created by Sean Doran, these texture files bring a piece of classic aviation heritage to your virtual skies. Payware model not included; you must own the A2A Simulations base package separately.
This particular aircraft entered service on July 10, 1949, originally delivered to Northwest Airlines as “Stratocruiser Chicago.” Eventually, Aero Spacelines acquired it with plans involving Guppy modifications, though the conversion process never materialized for this specific example. The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was notable for its large pressurized cabin and four powerful radial engines, which offered comfortable transoceanic flights during the post-WWII period.

The Boeing 377 Stratocruiser emerged right after the war, and Pan American Airways famously became its first operator. Certification delays postponed widespread entry into airline service until 1949. Aero Spacelines later acquired several of these aircraft for their Guppy program, turning them into oversized cargo carriers. This repaint commemorates how one Stratocruiser escaped conversion, preserving its civilian heritage.
To install, place the provided texture folder inside your main A2A Boeing 377 directory, typically found at:
Next, edit your aircraft.cfg file in the same directory. Locate the existing [fltsim.x] entries, then add a new one using the text below, replacing “x” with the next sequence number:

description=On 28 November 1945 Pan American ordered 20 Stratocruisers. This made PAA the first airline to put the new Boeing Stratocruiser into service. It was hoped to have the B-377s in service by the end of 1946 but a long drawn out certification process held up service entry until 1949. Boeing B-377 NX1024V was the third Stratocruiser prototype, its first flight took place on October 7th, 1948. Although it was named Clipper America it was actually the 2nd Pan American B-377 to be called Clipper America. The first Clipper America was the second Stratocruiser prototype, NX1023V and was later renamed Clipper Golden Gate. NX1024V was delivered to Pan American as Clipper Bald Eagle N1024V on June 12th, 1949. It was later refitted as a Super Stratocruiser, renamed as Clipper Cathay and used for the Pacific routes. It was eventually sold to Aero Spacelines and was converted to a Pregnant Guppy (N1024V).
