The Huey is one of those choppers that when it pops up to give it a go, despite having tried countless variations a massive amount of times, I always decide to try it out!

It’s iconic to me – whether it’s from seeing it on TV as a youngster growing up as it flew off to take part in foreign battles that I never understood until much later in life or just the fact that it was the first helicopter I ever truly enjoyed using in a flight simulator, the Huey holds a special place in my heart. This remake of the Huey is based off the creation by Jordan Moore, of which I was a huge fan. This package, though, takes that on and adds a nice layer of depth to the whole thing, giving me even more fun to be had as I fly around and take to the skies in such a unique manner.

The Huey has that open-air nature that so many aircraft can lack today, making it much easier to fly around and take in the beauty of the world at a leisurely pace. The fact it’s so versatile means that I can get in and around the most challenging of terrain, too, so if I have to try and make some smart maneuvers around a cliff face or something similar I’ll have no issues at all in doing it with this little warrior as my ally. It’s a solid aircraft and this is well reflected in the package.

What you do get in this package is a huge range of new textures, and with twelve models of the Huey to pick from along the way you’ll have lots of choice. It’s an aircraft with plenty of range to it so you can use this range to make sure you have the best look and feel possible. The depth of creation by the developer of this version, Wayne Farrell, is very impressive.

He’s taken on an old project an refreshed it entirely – if you are like me and have always had a fondness for the Huey, you need to get into the cockpit of this model and try it out. The whole setting and style of the package is massive, as it gives you that true Huey feeling – light and nimble without having that matchstick feel to it that so many aircraft that are light can tend to have.

The whole thing comes together for me in the most enjoyable way possible, ensuring that I can easily fly around and just enjoy what I’m getting up to instead of always having to try and create that realism in the mind. This is about as close to the Heuy as I have used for FSX and 2004, so I have to say that in the future I would happily download this again.

If you are looking for a solid remake of the Huey then you should definitely give this package a whirl – it does the real thing plenty of justice.

Sound is great, model looks good, easy to hover. The instrument panel is not very good. A major let down having a heli this cool without working instruments. Otherwise, I would have rated this one a 10.

I've been looking for a good Huey sim. Unfortunately this one fell short. The 2D and 3D pannels need a lot more work. The sound is good and realistic - but that's required for a Huey. Flight handling is good and smooth.
