This custom livery adds the historic Pan American “Clipper Flying Eagle” design to the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. Developed specifically for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, this repaint was meticulously crafted by Corina Meyer and requires the payware Captain Sim L-1011 model (available separately) for full functionality.
Notable Tri-Jet Characteristics
The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, introduced in the early 1970s, was a technologically advanced wide-body aircraft sporting three powerful turbofan engines. Its design featured modern avionics for the era, such as an advanced autoland system (an approach system aiding both pilots and automation), making it a direct competitor to other tri-jets of its generation. Pan American, recognized globally for pioneering long-haul transoceanic service, operated numerous iconic aircraft over the years—this “Clipper Flying Eagle” rendition captures the spirit of that tradition.
Standout Exterior Details
In this repaint, fine attention has been paid to the fuselage lines and the intricate Pan Am logo placement. Subtle shading and weathering effects help recreate the classic fuselage finish. The tail emblem retains the airline’s legacy globe motif, while the TriStar’s unique S-duct engine inlet retains its original structural form. Operators of Captain Sim’s payware L-1011 will find that this repaint seamlessly matches the aircraft’s distinct shape and proportions.
