FSX Nieuenland Airport Scenery

EDDW Bremen Airport scenery refreshes Nieuenland’s layout with January 2013 taxiway alignments, updated designators, crisp runway and apron markings, and functional jetways for realistic gate operations. Built for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, it places the airport accurately near the Weser River, enhancing online-oriented departures and arrivals.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator X features an updated rendition of EDDW Bremen Airport in Germany, reflecting changes to taxiway alignments and designators as of January 2013. Created by Stefan Liebe, it provides a detailed environment in the airport’s real-world location near the Weser River in northern Germany. Enthusiasts can experience improved jetway support and accurate surface markings, all while flying virtual routes to and from Bremen’s bustling passenger terminals.

Refined Airfield Layout and Ground Elements

This scenery package incorporates recent modifications of Bremen Airport’s taxi paths. The layout includes revised designators, ensuring simmers can track real-world transitions on the apron and main taxiways. Pilots familiar with the airport’s operational procedures will appreciate the authentic details that replicate the actual infrastructure.

Taxiway Details (Explanation)

Within the simulator, taxiways are the designated routes that connect parking stands, runways, and other ground facilities. This add-on updates those pathways to reflect changes advised by aeronautical publications for January 2013. These alterations offer accurate signage and smoother transitions when navigating around the airport.

Installation Procedure

  1. Extract the entire contents of the downloaded archive into a temporary directory.
  2. Locate the EDDW_V1 folder and copy it, including all internal subfolders, into FSX/Addon Scenery.
  3. Use the simulator’s scenery library interface to add the EDDW_V1 folder and activate it.
  4. Disable any other EDDW airport enhancements in the scenery library to avoid conflicts.

AI Traffic Considerations

The design primarily focuses on online flight capabilities through networks such as IVAO or VATSIM, meaning AI traffic functionality has not been optimized. While some users may prefer offline routing and traffic, the developer has not verified complete compatibility. Those seeking a robust AI experience might need to test or adjust certain parameters independently.

Modifications in This Version

  • Functional jetways now appear at the terminal gates.
  • Runway and apron markings incorporate the recent airport changes.

Potential Visual Artifacts

Some users have reported expansive white areas on the apron, where aircraft wheels seem to vanish, instead of seeing the intended circular illumination from the ramp lighting. This anomaly may be related to DX9 usage. If this issue arises, remove the file EDDW_Light_Placement.bgl in the scenery directory of the add-on. That action disables the custom apron lighting but resolves the display discrepancy.

Acknowledgements

Bill Leaming kindly authorized the use of his RampLight_Library, offering advanced lighting capabilities for the apron and stand areas. Additionally, the development process relied on several valuable utilities, such as ADE Airport Design Editor, ModelConverterX, Wishplacer, and Library CreatorXML. These tools streamlined the scenery creation workflow and enabled precise control of airport elements.

Developed by Stefan Liebe, this freeware add-on aims to bring Bremen Airport to life with realistic ground layouts and enhanced features. Users with further comments, questions, or optimization suggestions are encouraged to reach out. Enjoy seamless virtual flying at EDDW and happy landings!

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.
  3. Activate in Scenery Library

In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
