Experience an updated set of fictional repaints designed for the VFA-211 Fighting Checkmates, showcasing Lockheed Martin F-35C jets as they might appear in future carrier operations. Created by S. Peterson, this release introduces fresh Bureau Numbers (BuNos) per aircraft and adds a CAG texture. It fully replaces any earlier variant of these paints and is intended for Dino Cattaneo’s freeware F-35C model in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
Distinctive VFA-211 Color Schemes
These enhanced paints bring out the unique flair of the Fighting Checkmates, a U.S. Navy squadron known for its lineage in naval aviation. Each texture folder includes a tailored BuNo to give every jet a more authentic identity on the virtual carrier deck. Additionally, the special CAG bird stands out with its eye-catching markings, reflecting the tradition of carrier-based leadership aircraft.

F-35C Carrier Variant Highlights
The F-35C stands out as the navalized version of Lockheed Martin’s fifth-generation fighter. It features a reinforced landing gear for carrier deck landings and enhanced wings designed for improved low-speed control. The stealth shaping allows pilots to carry out both tactical strike missions and air defense roles effectively. With these fictional schemes, users can immerse themselves even further in the operational atmosphere of naval aviation.
Installation Process
- Locate your F-35C folder under SimObjects/Airplanes.
- Place the new texture folders within the existing F-35C directory.
- Open the aircraft.cfg file and add the supplied text entries below. Change FLTSIM.X to the next available number in your configuration.

Where to Find the Base Model
This repaint package does not include the original F-35C model by Dino Cattaneo. Check the Fly Away Simulation library for the freeware package if you have not already installed it. Ensure the base aircraft is set up before adding these texture entries.
Developer Credits
S. Peterson prepared this repaint package, ensuring complete authenticity for VFA-211 markings and BuNos. Special thanks go to Dino Cattaneo for his freeware F-35C model, providing the foundation for these fictional line paints.
