Discover the immersive Shenzhen Airlines Boeing 737-700 rendition crafted by Project Open Sky for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. This complete freeware package features the airline’s B-2667 “Fuzhou” livery, refined through meticulous repainting by He Lingyuan. It relies on the default Boeing 737-800 panel and sounds, which ensures simpler compatibility, although it does not incorporate a virtual cockpit. Installation is straightforward, and the download includes all the essential files.

Origins of the Aircraft and Livery

Shenzhen Airlines, headquartered in the dynamic city of Shenzhen, operates a substantial fleet of Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft, including the 737-700 variant. The real-world B-2667 “Fuzhou” jet proudly displays the airline’s hallmark red tail, representing its heritage. This add-on captures those distinctive details, showcasing an authentic exterior finish and embodying the airline’s operational presence in Chinese aviation.

Development and Credits

This project integrates the renowned Project Open Sky model, known for its precise flight characteristics and superior visual modeling. Repainter He Lingyuan, with painting support from Corey Ford, devoted considerable attention to ensure subtle details are accurately portrayed. The performance data references come from dedicated sources, such as the 737-700 Performance Files compiled by Matt Zagoren and the 737NG Operating Manual assembled by Warren C. Daniel. Members of Project Open Sky have thoroughly tested the final product, contributing feedback to refine every aspect.

Technical Highlights

  • Wing and Control Animations: Experience a full range of animated control surfaces, including ailerons, elevators, and rudder.
  • Enhanced Suspension: Each landing gear assembly features independent suspension, plus nose gear steering for realistic ground handling.
  • Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems: Retractable front gear steering responds precisely during taxi and takeoff phases.
  • Dynamic Wing Flex: Wings flex noticeably in response to flight maneuvers and air turbulence using refined kinematic modeling.
  • Opening Passenger Doors: Activate doors with Shift+E, allowing simulated passenger boarding and deplaning.
  • Accurate FDE (Flight Dynamics Engine): Developed by Project Open Sky and validated by real-world pilots, ensuring realistic climb rates, speeds, and overall handling.
  • Refined Texturing and Lighting: Reflective textures vary in intensity based on material and include full night lighting, offering vivid realism in low-light conditions.
  • Thrust Reverser Animation: Observe the reversal surfaces deploy upon landing for a genuine 737NG feel.
  • Integrated Effects: Crash effects, transparent navigation light lenses, tilting bogies, rolling wheels, and more.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
