"MELJET"
Original Model By: MELVIN RAFI
Updates and Conversion to FSX By: David Grindele

"Whats new"

Most of Mel's aircraft were designed to fly in FS 2000 OR FS 2002 and very few were converted to FS2004 and the ones that were converted to 2004 had afew flight dynamic problems I guess one of the reason's for this was know one tweaked the air file to fly in FS2004 but they are still nice aircraft.

For FSX I wanted to do something very special for MELJET'S I wanted them to have the same Luster and flight dynamics that Mel wanted them to have without looseing or having to compromise anything. What I have done is tweak air files, And the cfg file, I have added A2A 3D Lights and Redux.

And have kept the quality of the aircraft intact. Most of the aircraft have opening engine cowlings that open for maintenance Which makes the Jet engine visible. By pressing shift + E. While at the gate the jetway will now close on the aircraft by pressing crtl + J on your key board.

MELJET'S have alway's been one of my favorite aircraft and I didn't want them to die with FS2000 & FS2002 and I thourght they would when FS9 & FSX hit the market place.

I truly believe you cannot buy and aircraft with the quality of work that has went into these aircraft. And I am proud to say I helped keep Meljets alive.

Editorial

One thing I’ve always appreciated about flight simulation is the variety of options we have to fly with. Even when it’s merely a livery update or something miniscule graphically, it feels nice to have a bit of unique invention. One product that I picked up to try recently was the Emirates-based model of the Boeing 777-21H. This is one of the most reliable aircraft of its time, and being able to throw in a nice Emirates livery is a nice touch.

Preview screenshot

The model itself was created by Melvin Rafi, and has been updated and improved by David Grindele. Since the old model was made for FS2000/20002, it obviously took a fair bit of revamping to get it into a working shape for modern simulators. This particular file, though, was also converted for FS2004 and as such the legacy issues you might have expected had to be neutralized before release.

So, what did I make of it?

The Installation

Installation is a piece of cake, as you might have expected. Simply download the file, and copy the ‘Aircraft’ folder to your /directory folder. Once there, you simply need to fire up your copy of FSX and head to the MELJET in the aircraft selection. There, you take the 777-21H and you can then take off into the sky without any issues.

Just make sure that you pick up the A2A 3D Lights and Redux program as without them this mod will simply not work as it should.

The Detail

The developer has done a fantastic job on taking the old style that the “MELJET” range is so well-known for and keeping it authentic. It’s got the same kind of fluffy flight dynamics, with updated and improved air files and configurations to make it FSX-friendly. It also comes with the A2A 3D Lights and Redux additions. It’s these nice little extra touches that goes the longest way for me to making this mod a worthwhile addition to any FSX arsenal.

However, the quality of the actual model design and the crafts performance has retained a same consistent high. It’s designed to have engine cowlings that can be opened up for maintenance, a touch that I loved, and also the chance to make the authentically designed engine nice and visible. Simply hit SHIFT+E and this will take place, showing you the hardware and how closely detailed the design has been made.

I was a huge fan of MELJET packages back in the day, so it’s lovely to see these remade and improved to fit the theme. I would happily recommend these to anyone who either wants a bit of nostalgia, or who wants to see what all the fuss was about beforehand.

can make it compatible with sp1?

jpop8807Wed, 22 Aug 2018 19:03:51 GMT

VC cockpit is half of a black screen and thats about it. Also I notice when i'm flying straight it looks like the airplane isn't level but more so angled upwards.

SamSat, 30 Apr 2016 20:59:14 GMT

Does it have a virtual cockpit?

OverlordFri, 21 Aug 2015 14:15:53 GMT

Meljet models are always without virtual cockpit right?
