This freeware repaint features Air Uganda’s livery for the popular CRJ200 (originally created by Project Open Sky). Designed by the developer, Sebastian Szucs, this package includes texture files in a 32-bit format without Mip-Maps. Although the base model itself is not included, it can be obtained from the Fly Away Simulation library for proper functionality. Below, you will find information about the operator, installation details, and technical notes that ensure optimal performance within your simulated environment.
Air Uganda Overview
Air Uganda was established to serve domestic and regional routes, operating primarily out of Uganda’s principal airports. The CRJ200 (regional jet known for its efficient turbofan powerplant) fit well into the airline’s fleet structure, thanks to its reliable performance and short-field capabilities. The repaint here reflects Air Uganda’s characteristic branding, with careful attention to fuselage detailing, tail insignia, and color accuracy.
Installation Instructions
- Extract the “texture.XXX” folder into your existing Project Open Sky CRJ200 directory.
- Open your aircraft.cfg file located within the CRJ200 installation folder, then copy and paste the included text block from the downloaded repaint package.
- Adjust the “[fltsim.X]” entry to reflect the next available number sequence in your aircraft.cfg file.
- Confirm that the “model=” and “sim=” lines match the specific CRJ200 model and corresponding .air file.
- Load your simulator and select the newly added Air Uganda repaint.
This repaint has been tested in FSX but may also be compatible with related simulators that support Project Open Sky’s CRJ200 base model. Ensure you follow the numerical sequence carefully to avoid overwrite conflicts in the aircraft.cfg file.
Repaint Features
- Accurate Rendering: The livery incorporates Air Uganda’s real-world branding elements with precise logo placement along the fuselage and tailfin.
- High-Resolution Textures: Saved in 32-bit format without Mip-Maps, these files prevent blurriness and improve clarity.
- Enhanced Paintkit Utilization: Although the original Project Open Sky template dates back to previous simulator editions, the developer applied additional detailing for more distinct panel lines and shading.
While certain components of the original paintkit show their age, the developer, S. Szucs, aimed to refine each segment to deliver a cohesive result. This repaint offers a balanced blend of performance and aesthetics, allowing sim pilots to fully enjoy the CRJ200’s role in regional flight scenarios.
For best results, remember to install the freeware CRJ200 base model by Project Open Sky. After you complete the repaint installation, your flights will open up new opportunities to explore East African routes. This portrayal of Air Uganda’s CRJ200 is a faithful representation of the airline’s short-haul service and operational style. By combining realistic textures with the CRJ200’s recognizable flight deck and performance traits, it transports you into authentic Ugandan commercial aviation missions.
