To install just unzip the A5.zip file into your FSX SimObjects/Airplanes folder. Then start FSX and go flying. That's all there is to it. I consider this version 1.0 and plan on updating it with various enhancements as time permits. Enjoy

Editorial

Having recently had the joy of using a little amphibious aircraft in real life, I decided to pick this up to try it out. The Icon A5 is one of those ambitious little models that you see but never actually try out. Well, I decided to pick it up and finally see why this model might be all the rage. Given that it’s made by the excellent Dan Cowan; I was left with very high expectations for this mod!

Accurate in Design

I have to say, then, that I was absolutely delighted with what I got. It’s very easy to use and effective in delivering exactly what I wanted from the aircraft. It’s light and nimble in the air making it very easy to take to and from the water in a few simple clicks.

This version of the mod, apparently merely Version 1.0, is set to be improved as well. I was already very impressed by the work included as it had a fairly detailed cockpit, an excellent scale to the model, and wonderfully accurate textures.

The performance, then, was something else I had to check out. I’m pleased to say that this glides through water and sky life it should. It’s very accurate and honest in the way that the design carries itself but the performance is just as impressive, as well.

With that in mind, I can see why more may wish to be added by Mr. Cowan. It could use a bit of refinement in general, but overall it flies and skims along the water in a very graceful manner.

It’s one of the most enjoyable amphibian aircraft that I have had the joy of using in some time. The next time I truly wish to try this out in real-life, I might just need to try and get my hands on an Icon A5, such was the level of fun that I had with this edition of the aircraft!

The aircraft installs fine. Once it's loaded, the aircraft is all white. No colors show outside or in. I'm sure this has something to do with the Preview DirectX 10. If I don't have the box selected, then I get a black screen when I hit fly. On my older PC, I had the box unselected and all was fine. Anyway, the aircraft did as expected. It was just void of textures.

I encounter an error when trying to the A5 installer package. it is "The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author." Do you have any clues as to the software required? I have downloaded Abobe AIr. Please Help!!!
