This free enhancement for Microsoft Flight Simulator X introduces an inventive 1940s USAF-inspired finish for Massimo Taccoli’s ICP Savannah v3.8. Created by developer Bob Azzaro, this distinctive artwork evokes historic training aircraft aesthetics while retaining the ultralight’s familiar reliability and short takeoff and landing (STOL) characteristics.
Heritage-Inspired Appearance
This fictional “BOB-A 1940s USAF Trainer” scheme reimagines a classic military trainer motif. The ICP Savannah, originally designed as a highly versatile ultralight with a tough yet lightweight frame, benefits from this subtle vintage touch. The livery’s markings and color palette are reminiscent of mid-20th-century trainers and provide a unique twist on the standard ultralight profile.
About the Base Model
Massimo Taccoli’s ICP Savannah v3.8 (freeware) forms the foundation for this repaint. This ultralight model is widely recognized for its generous cockpit visibility, robust design, and STOL performance, all of which boost its usefulness on a variety of airfields. The original aircraft emulates an Italian configuration that balances gentle handling with notable efficiency, making it a strong choice for exploring diverse landscapes.
Features of This New Livery
- High Fidelity Textures: The 1940s USAF-inspired artwork integrates subtle detailing to capture a period-correct trainer look.
- Ultralight Flight Style: Maintains the ease-of-operation, allowing short-field operations and stable cross-country cruising.
- Authentic Model Compatibility: Fits seamlessly with Massimo Taccoli’s original v3.8 release.

FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\savannah38
. - Open the aircraft.cfg file located in the same folder.
- Within the aircraft.cfg, add the following configuration block (replacing X with the next available numerical value):
