Immerse yourself in a striking repaint of the subsonic Kawasaki T-4 jet trainer, a two-seat design prominently used by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force for instructional flights. This repaint, created by Frank Safranek, showcases the 32 Kyoiku Hikotai (32nd Training Squadron) from the 1 Kokudan (1st Air Wing) operating out of Hamamatsu Air Base (RJNH). Developed as an add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, this package requires the original freeware model from Team FS KBT, available in the Fly Away Simulation library.

Uniquely Detailed Markings of the T-4

The real-world Kawasaki T-4 typically operates as an advanced trainer, featuring twin Ishikawajima-Harima turbofan engines and a sleek aerodynamic fuselage. Pilots benefit from a responsive control system, making it suitable for learning transitional maneuvers. In this variant, the 32 Kyoiku Hikotai’s distinctive checkerboard markings have been painstakingly rendered to replicate the authentic livery found on the Hamamatsu-based aircraft.

These textures capture the vivid red checker details seen on aircraft #66-5746, aligning with actual J.A.S.D.F. markings for ceremonial, training, and formation displays. Hamamatsu Air Base (RJNH) is known for its role in pilot proficiency and is home to notable flight demonstrations.

Installation Guidance and Configuration

Before installation, ensure that you possess the Kawasaki T-4 FSX Exterior base model by Team FS KBT. To implement this repaint, follow these steps:

  1. Place the texture.CheckersRed folder into your aircraft/Kawasaki T-4 FSX Exterior directory.
  2. Insert each corresponding [fltsim.x] entry into your aircraft.cfg file. Replace “x” with consecutive numbers, ensuring each variation appears correctly.

Flight Simulator Configuration Entries

Make sure to include all three configurations—clean, two-tank, and travel pod—so you can simulate different mission profiles. Below are the required lines (copy and paste them as separate entries):
