This repaint showcases the “SAR 71 Hamburg” Bell UH-1H livery, inspired by the real-world helicopters operated by Lufttransportgeschwader 63 (LTG 63) in Hohn, Germany. These aircraft served as search and rescue units for the Hamburg region until 2006. Created by B. Lechner, it requires the payware Bell UH-1H model by Nemeth Designs for Microsoft Flight Simulator X/Acceleration. Textures only.

Distinctive Features of the “SAR 71 Hamburg” Texture

In the real world, the Bell UH-1 (sometimes referred to as the “Huey”) gained a reputation for its adaptability and reliability in many different roles, including medevac and rescue missions. The camouflage and markings in this repaint pay tribute to the dedicated crews of LTG 63, who ensured rapid response and lifesaving operations across northern Germany. Each insignia and emblem is accurately placed to mirror the original appearance.

Important Notes on the Required Payware Model

While this download purely includes texture files, you will need the original Bell UH-1H produced by Nemeth Designs to fly this repaint. That payware base package is not included and can be purchased separately. Always ensure you have the proper model installed before integrating this livery.

Step-by-Step Installation Process

  1. Extract the ZIP file to a temporary folder.
  2. Locate the folder named texture.SAR-71 and move it into your SIMOBJECTS/ROTORCRAFT/ND_UH1H directory.
  3. Open your aircraft.cfg file found in the same directory. Paste the below data after your last repaint entry, replacing “[fltsim.XX]” with the appropriate consecutive number:
[fltsim.XX]
title= BELL UH-1H HUEY - SAR 71 - HAMBURG
sim= bell_uh1
model=
panel=
sound=
texture= SAR-71
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=
ui_manufacturer= BELL
ui_type= UH-1D
ui_variation= SAR 71
ui_typerole= "Rotorcraft"
ui_createdby= "Nemeth Designs & MILVIZ"
description= ""
  1. Once the entry is added and saved, launch Microsoft Flight Simulator X and select the new “SAR 71 Hamburg” variation.

That completes the setup steps. You can now immerse yourself in the operational history of these Huey helicopters as they patrolled and protected the Hamburg area.
