This repaint offers a specialized search and rescue scheme for the Bristol Sycamore helicopter, reflecting the Bundeswehr Marine service from 1957 to 1969. Designed by B. Lechner, these textures fit the beta version of the Bristol Sycamore originally developed by Rick Piper for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The base package is not included but can be found in the Fly Away Simulation library if needed.

Historic Rotary-Wing Design and Livery Features

The Bristol Sycamore (often identified by its designation Bristol 171) was among the earliest Western-built rotorcraft to enter operational service. Initially produced in the late 1940s, it demonstrated noteworthy versatility and ease of control. This particular repaint duplicates the distinctive Marine SAR (Search and Rescue) appearance seen on West German Navy aircraft during the 1950s and 1960s. It includes accurate markings, carefully placed insignia, and authentic color tones that highlight the helicopter’s important rescue role.

Integration Steps (Textures Only)

  1. Extract the downloaded ZIP package to a temporary folder.
  2. Move the texture.MARINE-SAR folder into:
Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Rotorcraft\FSX Bristol Sycamore HR14 BETA 2
  3. Open your aircraft.cfg file inside the same rotorcraft folder. After the last existing [fltsim.X] entry, add the block below. Update [fltsim.XX] so it follows the increasing numerical sequence.

[FLTSIM.XX]
