Experience a meticulously refined Vandenberg AFB (KVBG) in Lompoc, California, specifically tailored for FSX. This freeware add-on, created by Jim Cook, optimizes the existing military installation with added realism, upgraded structures, and adjusted layouts. Enthusiasts of military aviation will appreciate the attention to accuracy and detail integrated into the airfield environment.

Airfield Enhancements and Adjustments

The primary focus of this scenery update centers on improving the overall base appearance and functionality. The developer incorporated Military_Cargo parking slots, providing expanded opportunities for military aircraft operations. Additionally, the newly placed fire station includes fire trucks for an authentic on-base emergency presence. Various default buildings and the control tower were replaced, and more structures are introduced to reflect a bustling facility. The inclusion of static fuel trucks, refined parking lots, and accurate light pole placements adds lifelike elements throughout the grounds.

Taxiway and Apron Modifications

Building on sketches derived from AirNav diagrams and Google Earth imagery, this add-on sports reworked taxiways and re-aligned aprons to deliver a faithful representation of Vandenberg AFB’s layout. The intention is to match real-world specifications as closely as possible without compromising FSX performance. All edits were carried out using Flight 1’s AFX and Instant Scenery tools.

Integrated Military Plus Packs Support

Thanks to compatibility with Just Flight’s Military Plus Packs, your simulated military fleet will operate seamlessly within the enhanced airbase. Even without these packs, the included stock FSX library objects ensure a complete scenery experience. Furthermore, Ultimate Terrain and FSGenesis landclass can add extra depth, although neither is mandatory for proper functionality.
