This package transforms the default Marseille Provence Airport in Microsoft Flight Simulator X by refining its parking assignments, taxiway signage, and overall ground layout. Created by Ray Smith, it incorporates a carefully rebuilt low-cost terminal, enhanced fuel trucks, and realistic service vehicle paths. It also adds robust parking options and realigns missing taxi signs, all while preserving accurate airport perspectives when viewed from the virtual control tower.
Enhanced Structure for LFML Marseille Provence
Positioned near the Mediterranean coast, Marseille Provence Airport (LFML) is a key gateway to southern France. In real-world operations, it manages a broad spectrum of commercial traffic, including both legacy and budget carriers. Ray Smith’s rework leverages Airport Design Editor (ADE) to ensure accurate runway markings, logically assigned gates, expanded parking, and validated taxi clearance paths for improved realism.
Files Included
- LFML_ADE_RS.BGL
- Contains updated airport campaign data, including new paths, updated airline gates, and revised ground details.
- LFML_ADE_OBJ.BGL
- Incorporates additional objects (like fuel stations or signage) into the scenery’s environment.
Placement Steps
- Move LFML_ADE_RS.BGL into your “Addon Scenery/scenery” directory in the simulator’s primary folder.
- Place LFML_ADE_OBJ.BGL into the “Scenery/Global/scenery” subfolder so that the object data loads correctly.
- Launch your flight simulator. Once it initializes, the optimized Marseille layout will be fully applied.
Important Reminders
- Ensure no duplicate AFCAD or BGL files for LFML exist in your “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder. Multiple versions of the airport can lead to misaligned parking spots and possible scenery overlap.
- If you have AI traffic software installed, confirm it is not injecting a conflicting version of LFML. Having two different AFCAD files for the same airport can cause aircraft routing errors.
Removing This Modification
- To revert to the default facility, simply remove the two provided BGL files from their respective folders. The stock LFML environment will then automatically reappear.
Enjoy exploring this major French aviation hub, and many thanks to Ray Smith for the effort put into this free enhancement. Happy flying!
