This custom United States Air Force adaptation of the Boeing 757, formally recognized as the C-32A, offers a comprehensive freeware package for FS2004 enthusiasts. It is a collaborative creation, with the core model coming from Project Open Sky and the specialized paintwork accomplished by Gary Hayes. The result is an executive transport variant that showcases distinctive performance profiles, advanced animations, and detailed operational procedures.
Distinctive Airframe Configuration
The C-32A design incorporates the elongated fuselage of the 757-200 platform. It employs specialized military equipment and cabin layouts intended for VIP missions. This version remains faithful to the real-life specifications, ensuring its dimensions align precisely with the actual aircraft.
Core Enhancements and Functionalities
- Polished external surfaces: Includes dynamic shine for realistic reflection (reflective properties on the fuselage).
- Choice of viewpoints: Fly with a wingview or switch to a virtual cockpit for immersive interaction.
- Movable doors: Main passenger entryways and cargo hatches can open, offering expanded realism.
- Diverse cabin presence: Features 3D flight attendants (virtual crew representations) visible in the interior cabin.
- Standard control surface animations: Encompasses active ailerons, elevators, and rudder movements.
- Robust flight dynamics: Incorporates an FDE (Flight Dynamics Engine) derived from verifiable C-32A data and pilot feedback.
- Verified performance metrics: Each 757-200 variant is represented, covering thrust ratings, weight limits, and handling.
- Precision measurements: Maintains accurate size and structure, consistent with the Boeing blueprint.
- Performance charts integration: All flight envelopes reference official tables, ensuring credible speeds and climb profiles.
- Damage modeling: Includes potential failures on key sections, such as flaps, landing gear struts, tires, and powerplants.
- Adaptable engine packages: Reflects multiple engine setups, each with distinct thrust mapping and fuel burn rates.
- Specialized instrumentation: Engine-specific gauges match different thrust output calibrations and operation ranges.
- Optional gear loadouts: Modify gear points for either visual accuracy or performance-based simulation.
- Comprehensive manuals: Comes with operational documents and speed charts for reference during flights.
- Tailored lighting system: Offers refined illumination setups unique to the FS2004 environment.
Implementation Steps
- Extract all included files provided in the package.
- Move the unzipped aircraft folder directly into your FS2004 “Aircraft” directory.
- Copy the accompanying gauge file into the platform’s main “Gauges” folder.
- Place any “Effects” files into the primary “Effects” destination within FS2004.
Virtual Cockpit Accessibility
To activate the VC option, a separate texture download is necessary. After acquiring that texture, open the aircraft.cfg document and insert the letters VC following “model=” to switch from the wingview configuration to the virtual cockpit model.
Door Operation Guidelines
For the Project Open Sky Boeing 757-200 frames, the following inputs govern door movements:
- PAX door 1:
- SHIFT + E
- PAX door 2:
- Tailhook command
- Standard luggage doors:
- SHIFT + E + 2
- Large cargo bay:
- Wingfold function
