This complete freeware package brings you the Saudia VIP McDonnell Douglas MD-11 (HZ-HM7) in a meticulously crafted add-on for FS2004. Enthusiasts can enjoy a fully integrated model by iFDG (international Flightsim Design Group) with realistic animations, reflective surfaces, enhanced lighting, and a custom paint scheme by Jan Schillmann. The MD-11 stands out as one of the most celebrated wide-cabin tri-jets, and this VIP variant highlights the exclusivity of Saudia’s high-level fleet services.

Innovative Tri-Jet Framework

The MD-11, often referred to as the extended DC-10 successor, exhibits a unique design with three engines and a spacious cabin. Tri-jet configurations (a design utilizing three powerplants) are known for mechanical redundancy and notable payload capacity. Although McDonnell Douglas originally launched the MD-11 in the late 1980s, Boeing later integrated its production under the Douglas Products Division in Long Beach, California.

Exclusive Saudia VIP Livery

This Saudia VIP version, registered HZ-HM7, is intended for executive and special transport purposes. It incorporates premium interior features in the real-world counterpart. The external textures, created by artist Jan Schillmann, offer a polished finish and refined detailing, reflecting the five-star nature of Saudia’s elite travel services in flight simulation form.

Efficient Aerodynamic Enhancements

In comparison with its DC-10 predecessor, this airframe’s refined wingtip winglets, improved trailing edge, and streamlined tail structure supply reduced drag. The stabilizer incorporates integral fuel tank capacity, boosting range for longer routes. Collectively, these modifications help minimize fuel burn and increase operational distance, a critical aspect for extended VIP missions.

Versatile Engine Options

The MD-11 accommodates three primary turbofan systems: General Electric CF6-80C2, Pratt & Whitney 4460, or Pratt & Whitney 4462 (engine types referencing distinct thrust outputs and performance metrics). Each powerplant set has been optimized to offer steady thrust, enhanced climb capabilities, and robust reliability across a wide spectrum of flight conditions.

Advanced Cockpit Systems

Pilots will appreciate the dual digital automatic flight control system, which includes wind-shear detection, fail operational autopilot redundancy, and a flight management system engineered to optimize fuel usage. The six-cathode-ray-tube instrument layout (CRTs offering digital readouts and system alerts) delivers enhanced situational awareness. Furthermore, integrated digitized checklists and automated system controllers reduce pilot workload, enabling a smoother two-crew workflow in the simulated flight deck.

Cabin Configuration and Payload Flexibility

Under standard operations, the real-world MD-11 can accommodate 285 to 410 passengers depending on layout, carrying substantial cargo below the main deck. This VIP edition, however, focuses on exclusive seating and luxurious amenities, aligning with high-profile transport requirements. The model accurately captures the fuselage length of 200 feet 10 inches (about 61.2 meters) – exceeding the DC-10 by nearly 19 feet to offer increased interior volume.

Installation Process

Simply extract the provided archive into your primary FS2004 “Aircraft” directory. Any special effects included in this package should be moved to the Flight Simulator “EFFECTS” folder, which can be activated using the “I” key within the simulator. This procedure ensures that all lighting and particle effects are integrated properly for immersive operation.
