FSX Bristol Clifton Suspension Bridge & Observatory

The Clifton Suspension Bridge and Clifton Observatory appear near Bristol with custom static models, accurate placement over the Avon Gorge, and exclusions that tidy surrounding autogen for cleaner approaches and sightseeing flights. Built for FSX, it requires Orbx EU England Regional scenery and also supports Prepar3D when the Orbx region is migrated.

UK, v1.0. This scenery adds the Clifton Suspension Bridge & Observatory to ORBX EU England Regional scenery package near the city of Bristol, England. The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge, and links Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset, England. You must have ORBX EU England regional scenery to use the compiled scenery files. By Bryan Wallis.

What is in the Package:

Static Objects for the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Clifton Observatory.
A placement file that properly positions the bridge and observatory in their approximate real life locations. Also included in this file is an exclusion file to remove some unwanted autogen.

Compatibility:

You must have commercially available regional scenery addon Orbx EU England installed for this scenery to work. The scenery has not been tested with default FSX or UT Europe. This scenery package will work with Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D in the same way as FSX as long as you have migrated Orbx scenery over to P3D.

Installation:

  • Unzip this package to a temporary location or directly into your FSX Addon Scenery folder.
  • Copy the "Clifton Suspension Bridge & Observatory" folder and paste into your "Addon Scenery" folder or wherever you save your addon sceneries. Add (activate) this folder to your scenery library the usual way. NOTE: This scenery layer MUST be located in a priority above all Orbx scenery in the scenery library.
  • This scenery must be above all of your FTX Orbx scenery folders in priority. If you have set an insertion point using FTX Central, you will not have to worry about this folder location accidently moving to a lower priority with any future installation of Orbx scenery.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    Hi,

    An error condition occurs when extracting from the downloaded zip file.

    Error is: "Extracting Clifton Suspension Bridge.bgl CRC check failed".

    Note that I downloaded this file a couple of times to make sure that I did not receive any transmission errors.

    Please rebuild the zip file and let me know so that I may fetch an update.
