Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004

This freeware repaint brings the classic Australian National Airways (ANA) DC-3 VH-ANY livery to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Created by developer Wayne Tudor and intended for the MAAM-SIM R4D/DC-3 payware package, it replicates the aircraft’s mid-20th-century appearance by integrating historically accurate markings, surface textures, and registration details. This repaint does not include the base payware model, which must be acquired separately.

Iconic Livery Details

Under ANA service, this DC-3 bore registration VH-ANY and flew as an ex-USAAF C-47-DL (41-38713) and ex-RAAF A30-15. It was delivered to ANA in 1946, then operated commercially until it was sold overseas in 1953. Historical accounts indicate it was later destroyed during the siege of Dien Bien Phu on March 4, 1954, marking the end of its operational lifespan. ANA, a prominent carrier during that period, employed these flexible tail-dragger transports extensively for regional passenger routes across Australia. This dedicated repaint showcases the era-appropriate exterior finish, offering flight simulation enthusiasts an immersive representation of mid-century airline operations.

Author Notes

This repaint is published by Wayne Tudor specifically for those who own the commercial MAAM-SIM DC-3 product. As a high-fidelity add-on, the base package accurately models the Douglas DC-3’s cockpit, systems, and aerodynamic behavior. The included textures overlay those core features with an authentic Australian National Airways color scheme, recreating a fascinating chapter of aviation history within your simulator environment.
