Editorial

The Piper Arrow III is a rather popular aircraft in my books, mainly due to its rather sleek nature and the general look and feel of it. As an aircraft I’ve spent a lot of time in virtually and in real-life, it’s something that I always look forward to using when a new version of it comes out. This latest take on it by Hauke Keitel is a really impressive model and takes a far more intricate, analytical approach to the design and optimization of the real thing than many of the other options out there do.

This makes it a very interesting aircraft to fly and also makes it a very fun piece of hardware to engage with thanks to its rather quirky performance style. Thankfully, this package manages to capture that just perfectly.

It comes with new moving parts that really do add to the design depth and make the aircraft look as if its far more alive than many others do, whilst also capturing the detail and the depth needed in the cockpit to make it easy to fly. With the addition of a super simple virtual cockpit you can pretty much take on whatever you want!

It makes flight control and manipulation super easy and will ensure you don’t waste too much time going back and forth through the menus, giving you speed and precision in the cockpit. However, the hugely accurate flight dynamics – built around the real-life manual and specifications of the original – is one of the most impressive factors that you will come across.

It makes life much simpler in a wide variety of ways, especially if you have any real-life flight experience as this manages to capture all of the things about this aircraft you would expect to find if you have.

It also comes with two awesome models that capture every rivet, every bolt and every little extra addition out there that can possibly be added. These new models make the whole thing look just spot on, giving it a really interesting look and feel whilst maintaining genuine accuracy in design.

That being said, the three textures that are provided follow the same standards and the same depth of accuracy. This makes flying the aircraft really varied thanks to the range of detail in the liveries; the performance might not change, but the look certainly does! These are more than dull recolours, they are genuine changes to the overall design and the style of the aircraft each time.

Greate plane, but for me the windscreen is too white. I use fligthplanning for all aircrafts!

I must have done something wrong. There is no compass, the altimeter is there but does not function, the rate of climb is there but does not function. If anyone can help fjschubert@verizon.net

Really fun to fly, almost like the real thing. Needs a GPS, some clean up on the panel visuals and a touch more power to get a 10 rating. Still lots of fun to fly!

every thing worked there is a gps but its a very old gps it ainit eletoronic so... i think this airplaine ias good for begginers because it is fun to fly in SOUND DOES WORK.. and for real pilots because HEY i am one and i liked it so i rate it a 8

Overall, it looks like it owuld be great, but unfortunately, I can't tell, as FS2004 closes every time I load the plane.

The download is working and is reliable. All the gauges work if you install them right. The paint schemes are nothing special, but it is an airplane you should have in your collection. I'll give it an 8, its above normal.

The aircraft itself is very nice. The virtual cockpit could use some work. The engine is very weak, unable to climb the aircraft above the trees after the runway end. To fix this I went into the aircraft configuration file and pushed the thrust scalar to 1.50. Also, When I fly this plane, the end flight option box keeps poping up, and there is no gps so IFR flight is imposible in this thing. Over all I didn't like it.

The virtual cockpit is smooth and has a nice view of all gauges and controls. Nice touch with the working window vent thing. Too bad it didn't have a sound to it, though. A nice "woosh" would be icing on the cake. The 2D cockpit did have a problem for me, though. The edges were all made of jagged big pixels. Maybe something was installed wrong on my part. The flying was spectacular. It's definitely an easy to fly aircraft, and a great starter complex plane. A great download for sure, but unfortunately I'm stuck using the virtual cockpit. Not a big deal, though, because the virtual cockpit is beautiful!
