Editorial

The Starlifter is an aircraft that I have very little genuine knowledge about, such is the style and format of the real thing that makes it quite hard to get to grips with. That being said, I had no problems in using this remake of the old Starlifter. The two masterminds behind this, Mike Stone and Garry Smith, have done a wonderful job on putting together an awkward aircraft and making it fly with the style and format that you would have expected it to.

I was hugely impressed with all the work that has been introduced to this mod, but how does it actually take care of itself up in the sky?

Hugely Detailed

Yeah, the first thing that came to mind for me was the fact that this aircraft was impressive in its design. Pushing the old FSX engine to the limits, this really looks fresh and a clear, honest representation of the real thing. Everything comes together and makes a friendly, perfectly blended option that ensures you don’t feel like you are looking at textures or a model; it looks just like the real thing.

The level of detail extends into the cockpit, as well. This does a great job of making sure that you can really feel the way that it flies in comparison to many of its contemporaries. It’s very easy to control and the extra work that has gone into making sure the model looks fair and this is something that I was hugely impressed by.

Whilst not a major fan of the old aircraft itself from my limited usage prior to using this, I have to say that I was majorly impressed by how well this was capable of handling itself. From that point of view I would happily recommend this to others later on down the line for its freedom and the comfort in which it handles itself when you’re flying.

It might not be to everyone’s tastes but the people behind the mod have done a great job of putting it all together and giving us something genuinely memorable to cut around the skies with. If you are like me and found the pale imitations of the past for this model a little bit dull to fly around with, this can be a welcome and honest distraction from these problems giving you something a whole lot more engaging to fly with.

Yet another C-141 with no VC and the 737 2D panels? On top of this, the creator seems to have an issue with USAF markings. A reskin for cartoon land. No actual USAF markings or insignias on any of these. Was apparently designed for a "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" sequel. Disappointment extraordinaire.

patriateSat, 09 Jul 2016 21:22:49 GMT

Gee. Of ALL there C0141b, every one was of a foreign country. Not a single one was of the good ol' USA. WHY?

Fantastic plane and easy download. I routinely fly this plane around the world and on long distant flights. Great speed and control. Fast takeoff with lots of power for short runways and landing is simple but fun.

The plane takes up too much space to land.

smarty595Sun, 03 Jun 2007 03:21:32 GMT
its not very good, but i love the back doors, and its decent to fly if your flying about 100ft MSL, but the higher you get the slower you go, even with full throttle...
geniusboySat, 02 Jun 2007 21:43:09 GMT
This is not a good aircraft to fly...no enjoyment, and total lack of details make this one poor!
