If there was to be one gripe that I always had with FS2004, it was the (lack of) quality of the rain effects. Rain effects have become commonplace in simulation over the years, with some outstanding FSX rain mods already existing that makes it look far more like the real thing. Thankfully, Bluesphere and Gerrit Kranenbarg have decided to save the day for all FS2004 users by making this brilliant, free, real rain effect mod for your aviation enjoyment.
So, what I immediately cottoned on to when using this mod was the development of the frequency of the effect. This virtual cockpit rain effect does not hold back, not one bit!
Some mods like this can feel quite empty in terms of the detail or the frequency of the rain, but this does a much better job of making sure it feels nice and consistent. Installation takes a matter of seconds, and afterward, you are left with a virtual cockpit that is going to be far more authentic in terms of rain effects.
The drops vary in size, a nice touch, and also ensures that the flowing of the wind and the rain creates that kind of natural stream that we’re so used to seeing in reality. If you find that the weather quality is lacking when it comes to flying an aircraft in FS2004, then I wholeheartedly recommend that you take a look into grabbing this mod.
It’s insanely well designed, and makes a great aesthetic addition. It also makes it a bit more challenge to fly conventionally, ensuring that you can enjoy an enjoyable aviation experience with that added difficulty. Whether you want more of a challenge or you just want more detail in your simulation, this can offer both in relatively large spades!
