This is an all NEW Gmax model of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, in a Greek air force paint scheme. Features include multiple loadouts, Max animation, dynamic shine, wing vapor effect, and a Virtual Cockpit. There is no 2D panel, but the panel.cfg I have included is made to work seamlessly with Eric Marciano's freeware F-16 panel. I strongly recommend you get this panel. As my Virtual Cockpit requires several of the gauges from it. View the Text Documents I've included for detail's on where and how to get this panel. Editorial

The HAF F-16 Viper is an aircraft that I have always had a fair amount of time for, albeit an aircraft I have never flown too much in my time within flight simulator. When I decided to grab this version of the aircraft for FSX, though, I was interested to see what Kirk Olsson – a renowned designer in the community – would be capable of putting together here.

The Design

The first thing that immediately sprung to mind for me when flying around was just how detailed the aircraft was in comparison to other versions of the HAF F-16 Viper I have used in the past. The fact that it was made in Gmax probably helped this, as the model carries many realistic little features and add-ons that many designers might not have bothered trying to include in the mod. It uses a Greek Air Force paint scheme, too, which was a nice little add-on for me as I never had much time with the Hellenic air forces in the past.

This made a big difference for me, and the fact that it comes with multiple loadouts to pick from made it much easier to fly around with. I could choose a design that looked and fitted my own choices and requirements, helping me feel far more in line and in control of the flight I was about to engage on.

With a new range of animations included alongside an intentional dynamic shine and wing vapor effect, this has all of the design elements needed to truly enjoy the design side of things. The animations look brilliant and they give you a really impressive take on the way that this aircraft acts when it has pushed into action.

However, it does lack a 2D panel but if you use the included panel.cfg file you can make sure that it works perfectly in tune with the panels made by Eric Marciano. These are freeware and can be picked up from here – I strongly recommend that you consider doing so!

The Flight

The best thing about this mod, though, was just how accurate the flights seemed to be.

The virtual cockpit here is very detailed and easy to get to grips with but it also ensures that you can fly with extra precision and control than ever before. It makes sure that you have use of the right flight dynamics so that if you are used to spending time with the HAF F-16 Viper that it feels just as it should.

Backed up further by the virtual cockpit (although it does need Eric Marciano’s panels to make it fly at its best) the aircraft feels about as authentic as you’re likely to find. There are many detailed included in here which will really help you appreciate and grow to love the idea of flying this aircraft around.

I would be quite happy to recommend this to anyone who needs it, so you should give it a try if you are interested in military aviation for sure.
