FSX Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200

This freeware package introduces a long-haul twin-aisle jet for FSX, featuring the classic national carrier livery and a refined flight model. Created by Melvin Rafi, then further adapted by David Grindele, it retains its original design details yet gains modern enhancements. The model’s operational tweaks allow smoother performance in FSX without sacrificing authenticity.

Overview

The project builds on the original model by Melvin Rafi, often referred to as “Meljet.” His designs, first intended for earlier simulators, have been upgraded to align with FSX standards. David Grindele handled the updates, including the aircraft configuration file optimizations (sometimes called cfg tweaks) and further enhancements to the air files. These modifications help this Boeing wide-body maintain stable handling, even under heavier loads.

Visual and Functional Enhancements

• A2A 3D Lights and Redux: Introduces improved external lighting that accentuates runways and taxiways in low visibility.
• Opening Engine Cowlings: Press Shift + E to view the engine interior, adding a touch of realism for ground inspections.
• Animated Jetway: At a suitable parking position, press Ctrl + J to connect or disconnect the jetway.

These additions help replicate real-world procedures. Although the airframe debuted for FS2000 and FS2002, the new configuration removes older flight dynamic issues, enabling more precise control. The thoughtful changes ensure the aircraft stays true to its original design while benefiting from an updated system environment.

Tested Configurations

This release focuses on FSX. Tests were performed on Windows Vista 32-bit and Windows XP. Compatibility with other platforms is not guaranteed, although many users report success on various setups. Because of its heritage, the aircraft may function on FS2004 with minor adjustments, but the primary intent remains FSX use.

Installation

1. Extract the included Aircraft folder into your ...\FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes\ directory.
2. Launch FSX, open the aircraft selection menu, and choose the model labeled Meljet.
3. If you wish to enable the enhanced lighting, install the A2A 3D Lights & Redux package (not included here) to activate those features.

After these steps, your simulator should recognize the upgraded 777 variant sporting the airline’s new paint scheme.
