This freeware repaint highlights a US Navy “Imminent Fury” theme for the Embraer A-29B Super Tucano. The package offers a highly detailed external texture set replicating the evaluation aircraft tested by the USN. Created by Paul Barry using Tim Conrad’s paint toolkit, it requires the original freeware A-29B model by Tim Conrad, available in the Fly Away Simulation mod library. The repaint is intended for Microsoft Flight Simulator X users who appreciate an additional layer of authenticity and customization for their turboprop trainer experience.
USN “Imminent Fury” Embraer A-29B Design
The A-29B Super Tucano (also designated EMB 314) is a robust turboprop used extensively for light attack, reconnaissance, and advanced pilot instruction. Embraer designed it with modern avionics, featuring integrated systems for efficient ground support. In real-world testing, the US Navy explored its capabilities as part of the “Imminent Fury” program, aiming to evaluate the airframe’s efficacy in counterinsurgency and low-intensity conflict operations. The exterior markings included here reflect that evaluation scheme, showcasing a subdued tactical appearance typical of naval prototypes.
Key Features of This Repaint
- Detailed USN Livery: Accurate insignia and color shading aligned with the “Imminent Fury” concept.
- Optimized Textures: High-resolution format derived from Tim Conrad’s available paint kit.
- Faithful Model Foundation: Built upon the A-29B base model by Tim Conrad, retaining the original cockpit layout.
Since this download includes only the repaint files, you will need Tim Conrad’s base package to operate the aircraft in Flight Simulator X. The core flight model simulates turboprop behavior with stable handling and responsive controls, adding realism to tactical maneuvers or advanced training sorties.
Installation Procedure
- Unpack the downloaded archive to a preferred temporary folder.
- Open your main FSX “SimObjects\Airplanes\A-29B” directory. Copy the texture.usn folder from this package into that A-29B location.
- Before editing any configurations, create a backup of the aircraft.cfg file in the A-29B folder.
- Launch your aircraft.cfg with an ASCII text editor (like Notepad). Append the following entry, ensuring you replace XX with the next sequential number in your configuration file:
[fltsim.XX]
title=A-29B_USN
sim=A-29B

Save the modified aircraft.cfg and close the editor. Your new USN A-29B livery should now be available within the aircraft selection menu in Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
Credits
The original A-29B freeware model was developed by Tim Conrad, whose work laid the groundwork for this repaint. The USN “Imminent Fury” livery is courtesy of Paul Barry, leveraging Tim Conrad’s paint kit. This download offers a chance to simulate the real-world evaluation program in your own virtual skies. Remember, the base aircraft must be obtained separately from the Fly Away Simulation mod repository.
