This repaint adds a dedicated medevac livery to the Bell UH-1H, commonly referred to as the Huey. Developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator X (including the Acceleration expansion), it showcases medical rescue markings reminiscent of frontline medical evacuation missions. The textures have been created by B. Lechner as a freeware release and are intended for the payware Nemeth Designs (and MILVIZ) Bell UH-1H Huey rotorcraft. You will need to own the payware base model, which can be obtained separately from locations such as SimShack.
Origins of This Medevac Livery
The Bell UH-1H earned its nickname “Huey” from its earlier designations and quickly became an iconic rotorcraft in both military and civilian roles. This particular repaint, known informally as “Dust Off,” reflects the vital medevac configurations used to transport injured personnel to safety. The real-world UH-1H often carried stretchers and medical supplies, making it an indispensable asset for casualty evacuation in numerous global operations.
Key Texture Enhancements
- Medical Insignia: Large red cross symbols for heightened visibility in critical rescue situations.
- Authentic Color Scheme: Reflects the understated yet instantly recognizable paint patterns used by many medevac units.
- Detailed Markings: Stencils and subtle weathering effects for added realism.
How to Prepare and Install
- Extract the downloaded archive so you can access the “texture.DUST_OFF” folder.
- Move that folder into the SIMOBJECTS/ROTORCRAFT/ND_UH1H directory within your main FSX installation.
- Open aircraft.cfg inside the ND_UH1H folder, then scroll to the existing [fltsim.x] entries. Add the following block directly below the last repaint entry, making sure to replace “XX” with the correct numerical sequence.
[fltsim.XX] title= BELL UH-1H HUEY - DUST OFF sim= bell_uh1 model= panel= sound= texture= DUST_OFF kb_checklists= kb_reference= atc_id= ui_manufacturer= BELL ui_type= UH-1H ui_variation= DUST OFF ui_typerole= "Rotorcraft" ui_createdby= "Nemeth Designs & MILVIZ" description= ""
- Save your changes and load the helicopter in Microsoft Flight Simulator X to confirm the repaint was installed correctly.
Important Notes for Users
This repaint package only contains the texture files and does not include the full payware Bell UH-1H model from Nemeth Designs. The original aircraft is required, so be sure you have obtained it from a trusted vendor such as SimShack before adding these textures. Once properly installed, the “Dust Off” livery provides a historically significant look that reflects the aircraft’s distinguished service in airborne rescue scenarios, bringing unique immersion to your virtual rotorcraft operations.

Awesome!! Looks great!!! Also thanks for being a big help and telling how to install :)
If this purports to be a 1st Cav medical evacuation Huey (called MedEvac, not Dust Off), they were armed with an M60 machine gun in each hell-hole similar to a regular slick, except 5-man crew and patient hoist capabilities... Dust-Offs were unarmed generally, 1st Cav MedEvacs were armed
