Experience refined recreations of three smaller British airfields with this freeware add-on developed by Alf Denham. Designed with enhanced details for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, it offers a tailored environment for virtual pilots who want realistic layouts beyond the default scenery. This set enriches Caernarfon (EGCK), Deanland (EGKL), and Perranporth (EGTP), each located in scenic regions of the UK.
Enhanced Airfield Details for Diverse Flight Adventures
Caernarfon (EGCK)
Positioned near the picturesque coast of northwest Wales, Caernarfon Airport often serves light aircraft and emergency services. This mod implements generic object placements derived from thorough Google Earth assessments and Pooleys UK Flight Guide references, giving virtual aviators a more believable approach space. Structures are based on standard FSX items, ensuring compatibility with the core simulator data.
Deanland (EGKL)
Deanland, nestled close to Lewes in East Sussex, carries historical aviation significance from wartime operations. In this rendition, buildings and hangars appear more lifelike than default files while still relying solely on available Microsoft Flight Simulator X library assets. The layout remains faithful to essential flight charts for this private strip, offering flexibility for short-hop flights and training circuits.
Perranporth (EGTP)
Located on Cornwall’s Atlantic coastline, Perranporth Airfield accommodates general aviation traffic and is known for scenic approaches. To improve immersion, the developer employed aerial images while using the FSX SDK Object Placement Tool and Airport Design Editor v1.30. Flyers will notice revised taxiways, additional static objects, and better runway markings, all configured to blend with native simulator ground textures.
Focused Development Methods
Alf Denham assembled this volume using standard modeling objects without introducing custom components, which helps maintain stable performance. The use of FSX SP2 is strongly recommended for compatibility, as certain elements might not display accurately under older or unpatched environments. Differences could appear if users have photorealistic or third-party terrain overlays, but the default setting still yields a balanced experience.
Installation and Removal Guidelines
To install, simply consult the included “ReadMe” documentation in each airfield folder. Files can be copied into your existing Addon Scenery structure, and activation is managed through the simulator’s scenery library. Uninstallation involves removing the same files you initially placed, ensuring a hassle-free revert to default settings. Each location is optimized to fit seamlessly into your standard FSX layout without external dependencies.
This release is part of a wider series of small UK airfield enhancements. Although designed to give a “better, not perfect” representation, it nonetheless enriches key destinations for general aviation enthusiasts. Alf Denham encourages all simmers seeking extra realism in local airspace to explore this freeware offering.
