This comprehensive freeware scenery add-on upgrades Tunisia’s DTTA (Aéroport Tunis Carthage) in FSX, introducing a refined taxiway layout, enhanced parking assignments, and accurate control tower placement. Multiple BGL files allow optional crosswind runway activation, offering superior flexibility for users who value authentic airport traffic patterns. All modifications have been carefully tested to ensure stable performance, and developer Ray Smith has provided detailed instructions below to help you install these files correctly.

Extensive Airport Modifications for DTTA

Tunis terminal in FSX.This project focuses on modernizing default FSX facilities at Tunis Carthage, thereby creating a more realistic environment. The add-on prioritizes:

  • Enhanced Taxiways: Updated paths and signage to match real-world reference points.
  • Refined Parking Assignments: Reconfigured gates and parking to align with airline operations.
  • Accurate Control Tower Placement: Shifted to the correct geographic coordinates.
  • Support Vehicle Roads: Improved service paths that streamline ground operations.

Optional Crosswind Configuration

This package comes with two main airport files. The DTTA_ADE_CW_RS.BGL leverages crosswind runway methodology, ensuring both runways function simultaneously. Meanwhile, the DTTA_ADE_RS.BGL retains default behavior and uses a single primary runway for arrivals and departures. Each optional layout shares the same parking enhancements.

Key BGL Files and Their Functions

DTTA_ADE_RS.BGL
Default single-runway operation retained, including advanced parking updates.
DTTA_ADE_CW_RS.BGL
Crosswind runway fully activated for dual-runway usage in FSX.
DTTA_ADE_OBJ.BGL
Scenery objects file required alongside either of the airport operation files. Place this correctly for all 3D elements to display.

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

  1. Choose DTTA_ADE_RS.BGL or DTTA_ADE_CW_RS.BGL and move the selected file into your “Addon Scenery/scenery” folder within Flight Simulator X.
  2. Place DTTA_ADE_OBJ.BGL into “Scenery/Global/scenery” to ensure the correct placement of supplemental objects.
  3. Launch FSX. Your newly updated airport layout and visuals should be immediately active.

Important: Only keep one DTTA_RS.BGL file in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder to avoid conflicts.

ATIS Information Note

When the crosswind version (DTTA_ADE_CW_RS.BGL) is enabled, the air traffic information service might reference additional “fake” runways. This nonparallel activation trick allows simultaneous dual-runway use. If these extra announcements are distracting, consider using the default single-runway file.

Additional Viewing Tip

For a full 360-degree tower perspective, assign a “View track/pan Toggle” control within your FSX settings. This configuration unlocks the camera from the user aircraft so you can pan across the airport in tower view. Toggle it again to reset the camera once you are finished.
