Shek Kong Airfield, Hong Kong, China. This is part of the tenth round of airports issued by Alpha India Group. AIG Ground creates high quality Afcads for both FS2004 and for FSX default and add on scenery airports. Airports are created drawing on the best available resources and aim to simulate the real world airport as closely as possible but also to ensure good levels of traffic with realistic parking and good flow of traffic around the airport. By Paul Harrison and Alpha India Group.

Shek Kong Airfield (formerly RAF Shek Kong) is a small airbase located in Hong Kong's New Territories. Completed in 1950, it was the first airport in Hong Kong with a paved runway. It is home to the People's Liberation Army Air Force's (PLAAF) Helicopter Regiment 39968 and is open to the public for General Aviation at weekends.

Credits:

ADE (Airport Design Editor) by Jon Masterson is an invaluable freeware utility for developing Afcads and the latest version - 1.47.07 - is significantly advanced with the addition of the graphic Approach code editor, written by Jim Vile. My thanks to both Jim and Jon for all their help and support on this and all AIG projects.

Constraints:

As no airport charts or detailed information was available, VHSK was designed using satellite imagery only and so provides only a rough approximation of the real airfield. The intent of this airport is primarily to provide a realistic airfield for light General Aviation traffic in the Hong Kong area (such aircraft do not in reality use VHHH and any single engine GA aircraft should be redirected to VHSK by substituting it in the relevant flight plans using a utility such as AI Flight Planner).

In order to make the airport usable by users as well as AI aircraft, basic approaches and communications frequencies have been added as well as basic runway and apron lighting. These elements of the airport design are entirely fictional and serve only to enhance the usability of the airport in FSX.

Installation:

  1. Remove any existing third-party VHSK AFD/Afcad file in your FSX installation (check for files including VHSK in the filename in the "Addon Scenery\Scenery" folder).
  2. Place the files AIG_VHSK_ADEX_PH.BGL and AIG_VHSK_ADEX_PH_CVX.bgl in your FSX "Scenery\World\Scenery" folder.
  3. Start FSX, select VHSK and enjoy!

Uninstall:

  1. Delete the files AIG_VHSK_ADEX_PH.BGL and AIG_VHSK_ADEX_PH_CVX.bgl from your FSX "Scenery\World\Scenery" folder.
